    Ramsay Farmer Called By Death
H.M. Snedden Was Well known Resident of Appleton District
On Thursday night, Oct 5th, the whole community was shocked to hear of the sudden demise of Mr Herbert Mansfield Snedden which occured at the home of Mr Robert Barker, 8th line Ramsay, where Mr and Mrs Snedden and friends were spending the evening.
He has recently remarked to friends that he felt better than he had for years, but about 8:45 p.m. he complained of not feeling very well, though the symptoms were not alarming. However in a few minutes, medical aid was summoned and though everything possible was done for him, he passed away in about half an hour, a slight hemorrhage of the brain having developed.
Deceased, who was a son of the late Alexander Snedden, was born on september 6th, 1875, on the 7th line of Ramsay. In June 1899, he married Agnes B. Coxford of Blakeney, and they resided on the homestead for several years. Later they purchased the Wilson property on the Mississippi River, near Appleton.
In religion Mr Snedden was a Presbyterian until Church Union in 1925, then he became a member of Memorial Park Church, Carleton Place.
Mr Snedden is survived by his wife and two sons, Harold A. at home, and Herbert R. at Rosetown, Sask.
He was a man highly esteemed for his many sterling qualities and when the intimation of his passing was received, deep regret was expressed by a host of friend. His genial, generous disposition, his patience and thoughtfulness of others, his kindly consideration for the poor, made him the centre of a very large circle of friends. "The best portion of a good man's life is his many, little nameless acts of kindness and love."
The funeral was one of the largest ever witnessed in the community, took place on his many, October 8th, at 2 p.m. from his late residence.
the service was conducted by Rev Donald Munro B.A. of Memorial Park Church and Rev Andrew McLauchlin B.A., B.D. of Trinity Church, Almonte and United church Appleton.
Interment was made at the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay. The pallbearers were: Messrs Thomas Coxford, Herbert Coxford, Robert Barker, Frank J. Paul, Alex Cochran and Wilbert Cochrane.
Along the many floral offerings testifying to the esteem in which deceased was held were wreaths from the family and Appleton friends and a spray from the A.F & A.M. the sympathy of the entire community goes out to the family in their bereavement
