    David Wesley Andrews died suddenly at his home at RR 3 Almonte on June 10, 1988. He was 83. A lifelong resident of this area, Mr Andrews was born in Almonte on Oct 23, 1904 the son of the late Joseph John Andrews and Eliza Jane Mansen. He was educated in Almonte. On Nov 5, 1930 he married Annie May Rodger. Mr Andrews worked as a farmer. He is survived by his wife, his son Raymond and daughter-in-law Shirley of Belleville; son Donald and daughter-in-law Eileen from Oshawa and nephew Robert Andrews and his wife Anneth of Almonte. Also left to mourn are his brother William John of Almonte and his sister Pearl Svozzi of Detroit, Michigan. Mr Andrews is survived by his great-grandchildren Lance and Shawntel LePage and Jessica Veinotte of Morrisburg and grandchildren Cindy Veinotte and her husband Randy of Morrisburg, Robbie Andrews of Oshawa, Patrica Andrews of Belleville and Stanley Andrews of Belleville. He was a great-uncle to Angela and Jordan Andrews. He was predeceased by his sister Jenny Jacques. Funeral services, conducted by Rev Grant Wilson, were held Monday, June 13, 1988 at the C R Gamble Funeral Home and Chapel. Interment followed at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were Robert Andrews, Gerald Meehan, Angus McCormick, Boyd Jamieson, Billy Traill and Len McNeely.

    David married Annie May Rodger in 1930.     Annie Andrews died March 3 in the Almonte General Hospital following a six week illness. She was 82. She was born Annie Rodger in Galbraith Jan 29, 1910 daughter to the late James Rodger and the late Harriet McKay, both of Galbraith. She married the late David Andrews Nov 5, 1930 in Almonte. Mrs Andrews lived in this area for 65 years. She is survived by sons Raymond of Kingston and Don of Oshawa. She is also survived by their wives Shirley and Eileen, and grandchildren Cindy, Patti and Stanley of Kingston and Robbie of Oshawa, and great-grandchildren Lance, Shawntell and Jessica also of Kingston. She was predeceased by sister Ella Andrews and brother Thomas (Mac) Rodger. The funeral was led by Rev Bob Hill at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home chapel March 5 at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at the Auld Kirk cemetery.

    The funeral of Mr John Andrews was held Thursday afternoon, July 3 from his late residence, 20 Thomas Street, Carleton Place to the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte. The service was conducted by the Rev D. Munro, assisted by the Rev Mr. McCord. Born in Ramsay Township Mr Andrews was a son of the late Thomas Andrews and Rebecca Kemp. he spent most of his life in Ramsay Township near Almonte where he farmed until fourteen years ago when he moved to Carleton Place. He was first married to the late Jennie Munson who died in 1915. His second wife, who was the former Annie Moore died in 1938. He was later married to the former Lucina Cunningham Waddell. Survivors include his widow, one sister, Mrs James Smith, Almonte; two sons, David and William on the homestead; two daughters, Pearl, Mrs Thos Swazzie of Detroit, Mich.; Jennie, Mrs Clemeth Huff of Toronto. The pallbearers were six of the old farm neighbours, Messrs Ernie Robertson, Lester Jamieson, J.B. Turner, Lloyd Watson, Alton Matthews and Wesley Rae. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. The cortege was a very large one showing the esteem in which the late Mr Andrews was held.

    The funeral service was held at the Comba Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, March 1st, at one p.m., of James Miller Rodger who died at his residence, Country Street, on Sunday, Feb 27th, in his 69th year. Mr Rodger had been in ill health for the past two years. James Miller Rodger was born at Middleville in 1886, a son of the late James Rodger and his wife, Ellen Miller. He was married 47 years ago to the former Miss Harriett McKay of Galbraith who survives together with two sons and two daughters, namely: Thomas Mckay (Mac) and Roy of Almonte; Ella (Mrs Wm Andrews) and (Annie) Mrs David Andrews both of Almonte. There is also a brother, William of Almonte; three sisters, Jessie, Mrs Chas Ramsbottom of Smiths Falls; Eva, Mrs Wm Rintoul of Innisville; Edna, Mrs Wm Woods of Lanark, and nine grandchildren. Mr Rodger was a farmer nearly all his life. First, as a young man he farmed in the Galbraith section and later on the 9th line of Ramsay Township where Mr John Brydges now lives and until he retired eleven years ago, on the farm occupied by his son, Roy, on the 9th line. The Rev Jas M. Ritchie of Almonte Presbyterian Church officiated and the remains were placed in the Auld Kirk Cemetery vault. The pallbearers were Messrs W.A. Metcalfe, Jas Metcalfe, John R. Reid, Ernest Robertson, Lloyd Watson and Lester Jamieson. Among the beautiful floral tributes were wreaths from Metcalfe's Dairy; M.P. Coderre and Metcalfe's Construction.

    James married Harriet "Hattie" McKay in 1908.     The death of Mrs Harriett (Hattie) Rodger occurred at the Drynan Nursing Home, Almonte, on Tuesday December 5th, in her 82nd year. She had been a resident of the nursing home for ten years. Previously Mrs Rodger resided on Country street. Mrs Rodger was born at Hall's Mills on October 5th, 1886, a daughter of Thomas McKay and Annie Rintoul. She was married in March, 1908, at Middleville, to the late James M. Rodger. She was a member of Almonte Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one son, Roy, and a daughter, Annie, Mrs David Andrews, both of Almonte; two brothers, Welland and Charles McKay, and two sisters, Mrs John R. Reid and Mrs William Mealy of Brandon, Manitoba. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church street, at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 8th, with burial at Auld Kirk Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev William Baird of Almonte Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers were Lloyd Watson, Lester Jamieson, James Rodger, Wilbert McKay, Garnet Rodger and Robert Andrews.

    Another of the older residents of our village, Mr. James H. Rodger, passed on to the spirit world last Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Finlay Ramsbottom. He had reached the age of 85 years and 3 months, and during his lifetime was seldom seriously ill, but for a few years his heart had caused him uneasiness and his sudden demise was due to this weakness when walking around the home. Mr. Rodger was married to Ellen Miller in the year, 1875, and to this union there was a family of five daughters and three sons, Jessie A., Mrs. Charles Ramsbottom, Lanark; Harry L., Maggie, Mrs. Finlay Ramsbottom, Ferguson's, Falls; William S. of Almonte; Nellie, Mrs. Welland McKay of Ramsay; James of Almonte; Edna, Mrs. Robert Woods of Arklan; Eva, Mrs. Wm. Rintoul. Galbraith. The large funeral services Sunday afternoon were conducted at the home of Mrs. Finlay Ramsbottom, thence to United church Middleville, by the pastors, Rev. Snelgrove and Rev. McLean of Lanark. The six grandsons who acted as pallbearers were: James and John Rodger, John Rintoul, Wilbert McKay, Lloyd Ramsbottom, Roy Rodger and four grand-daughters were flower bearers, Eleanor Rintoul, Mildred and Margaret Ramsbottom and Ella Rodger. Another nephew Mr. Geo. Rodger was requested to sing "Will the Circle Be Unbroken."

    Mrs. James H. Rodger
    Death has once again invaded our village, claiming on Sunday morning one of our aged and most highly respected citizens in the person of Mrs. James H. Rodger, nee Ellen Miller. During her illness which lasted a little over a year, her sufferings were borne in that quiet, patient manner so characteristic during her lifetime. A native of Lanark Township, in which her whole lifetime was spent, she was born on the farm now owned by Mr. Russell Ramsbottom, Sept. 18, 1855. She was the last surviving member of a family of 11 children, born to William S. Miller, who came from Ballymena, Ireland, and his wife, Ann Graham of Lanark Township. On June 18, 1875 she was united in marriage to Jas. H. Rodger of this township, by Rev. James Wilson, and to them were born a family of eight children, all of whom reside within a radius of 20 miles and were present with her during the last weeks of her life. There are also 28 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon from her late residence to St. Paul's United Church, interment being made in Middleville Greenwood Cemetery, her pastor. Rev. K D. Snelgrove conducting the services. Six grandsons were pallbearers and many beautiful floral tributes adorned the casket. The bereaved husband and family namely - William S. of Almonte; Jas. M. and Nellie, Mrs. R. Welland McKay of Ramsay; Jessie Ann, Mrs. Charles M. Ramsbottom of Lanark Village; Margaret, Mrs. Finlay Ramsbottom; Edna, Mrs. Robert L. Woods; Eva, Mrs. Wm. Rintoul and Harry L. of Lanark Township, have the sincere sympathy of the community and a host of friends in the loss: of a devoted wife and mother.
