Mr. Tackaberry, Kemptville

Brief mention was made of the death of Mr. Benjamin Tackaberry of Kemptville who passed away to his eternal rest early Wednesday morning, 8th inst., in last week's issue. Deceased was born in the Township of Elizabethtown eighty-seven years ago. In 1860 he was united in marriage to Jane Kennedy of Oxford, by Rev. Jas. Harris of Kemptville, who predeceased him six years ago.
The late Mr. Tackaberry is survived by two sons and two daughters, namely: Mrs. Thomas McClenaghan and Mr. H.D. Tackaberry, Kemptville; Mrs. Wm Patterson, Oxford Mills; and Mr. John F. Tackaberry, Smiths falls. Three sisters also survive him, namely: Mrs. John Patterson, Kemptville; Mrs. Barnard of Oxford Mills; and Miss Margaret of Brockville.
Mr. Tackaberry, at the time of his marriage in 1860, settled in Oxford Mills where he resided continuously until the death of his wife six years ago. Since that time he has resided with his daughter, Mrs. McClenaghan, in Kemptville. Mr. Tackaberry was a man of quiet unassuming manner and was highly respected by both old and young. The funeral took place at the residence of his daughter on Thursday afternoon, Rev. H. Walker, B.D., of Oxford Mills officiated and interment was made at the public cemetery, Kemptville.
The pallbearers were Messrs. Samuel Tackaberry, Bruce Barnard, Richard Patterson, Benj. Patterson and Calvin Patterson, all nephews of the deceased.

Jane was born on 12 Jul 1839 in Ireland; died on 3 Dec 1908 in Kemptville, Leeds & Grenville United Counties, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Kemptville Public Cemetery, Kemptville, Leeds & Grenville Counties, Ontario, Canada. 2. John Franklin Tackaberry was born in 1865; died in 1937.
3. Arvilla Tackaberry was born on 25 Apr 1873 in Ocxford, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada; died in 1947 in Kemptville, Leeds & Grenville United Counties, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Kemptville Public Cemetery, Kemptville, Leeds & Grenville Counties, Ontario, Canada.
4. Harvey Delbert Tackaberry was born in 1875; died in 1953.

Benjamin married Martha Tackaberry on 28 Jan 1822 in Brockville, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada. Martha was born on 9 Apr 1798 in Tomagaddy, Monamolin, County Wexford, Ireland; died on 30 Aug 1880 in Brockville, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Brockville, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada. Mrs. Martha Tackaberry was born in Co. Wexford Ireland, Easter Monday 1798, and came to Canada when quite young and was married shortly after this to a distant relative, Benjamin Tackaberry. Shortly after the marriage they settled in Elizabethtown Township, near the present site of Rocksprings. She died Aug. 30, 1880
