Thompson of Almonte Dearly loved husband for 68 years of Vera M. Argue and beloved father of Phyllis Dack (Glen) and Myrtle McNeely (Allan) both of Almonte and Linda Thompson of Ottawa. Special granddad of 5 grandsons; David, Arthur & Timothy Dack and Phillip & Matthew McNeely. Predeceased by his sister Mrs. Myrtle Brydges and also survived by many Brydges nieces and nephews.     Robert Miller McNeely
    On Saturday morning July 27th death claimed a life long resident of Beckwith, in the person of Mr. Robert Miller McNeely, a well-known and highly esteemed farmer. The deceased had been in poor health for over one year, having sustained a stroke from which he never completely rallied. Although he bore his sufferings with great patience. The late Mr. McNeely was the son of he late Mr. John McNeely and Matilda Drummond, and was born 53 years ago. On September 23, 1903, he was married to Miss Harriet Alice Thompson, of Ramsay, who survives. Deceased was a man who always took a deep interest in the welfare of he community in which he lived and also in his home and family. He was a man highly respected by the whole community and his death deeply regretted. The funeral which was the largest ever witnessed in the district took place from his late residence in Beckwith to Pine Grove Cemetery, Rev G.G. Wright, of St James church, Carleton Place, conducting the service. The pallbearers were his cousins; Messrs D.R. McNeely, J.J. McNeely, James Drummond, Beckwith, James Drummond, Prescott, Thos Sheridan, and Boyd Drummond, of Toledo Ont. Besides sorrowing widow deceased is survived by four sons: Earl, Osmond, Howard, and Melvin and three daughters Miss Muriel, Eleanor and Vera McNeely. Two brothers Messrs, W.J. McNeely, of Ramsay and Russell McNeely of Town, also survive.

    1964 Mrs. R. M. McNeely Paid Final Tribute

    Following an illness of about three weeks, Mrs. Robert Miller McNeely passed away April 10 in Almonte General Hospital. The former Harriett Alice Thompson, she was a daughter of the late Robert Thompson and his wife, Charlotte Sheppard of Ramsay Township where she was born. On September 23, 1903 she married to Robert Miller McNeely of Beckwith Township in St. John's Anglican Church, Innisville. They farmed for many years in Beckwith. Her husband predeceased her in July 1929. Survivors include three daughters and four sons, (Muriel) Eric C. Simpson, Carleton Place; Earl J. McNeely, Bells Comers; Osmond E. McNeely and Howard W. McNeely, Carleton Place; Melvin M. McNeely, Ottawa: (Eleanor ) Mrs. Wilmer Lyons, Portland; (Vera) Mrs. Clinton J. McEvoy, Ottawa; also 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren: two sisters. Mrs. Ella Giles, Carleton Place and Mrs. Ada Smalley, Ossining, New York, U.S.A. The largely attended funeral was held from the Fleming Bros. Funeral Home, Lake Ave. West, on April 12 to St. James' Anglican church, Rev. G. A. Young and Rev. H. A. Horsey officiating. Interment the United cemeteries. The pallbearers were Walter Armour, Ernest Giles, Warner Giles, Howard McRae, W. E. Neely and James McNeely.

    W. E. Thompson Widely Mourned ALMONTE 'Special! The death occurred at the Rosamond Memorial Hospital, Almonte, of one of Ramsay's older residents In the person of VVilliam Ernest S. Thompson. The late Mr. Thompson was born on the 12th line of Ramsay 80 years ago. He was the third oldest son of the late Languer: Thompson and his wife, Elizabeth Smith, pioneer residents of Ramsay. In 1901 he married the late Katie Sims who predeceased him In 1924. Mr. Thompson farmed on the 12th line for the greater part of his life, having moved with his son, Roy, and family eight , years ago to the Grace Homestead on the 11th line of Ramsay, where he has since resided.
    Following his retirement from farming, he delivered the mail on RR 4, Almonte for seven years. He was amongst the last of the horse and buggy mailmen In this district. He is survived by a son, Roy L. Thompson. A daughter, Myrtle (Mrs. Wilbert Brydges) predceased him eight years ago. Of his immediate family, five brothers and a sister also survive, Delbert of Detroit, Richard of Coldwater, Mich; Chester of Port Rowan, Ont.; Ivan and Stanley of Fort William and Mrs. Jessie Brown of Detroit. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home to the I Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev. Arthur Hirtle of Almonte Baptist Church conducted the service. The pallbearers were George A. Thompson and five of his grandsons, Keith, Kenneth, Robert, Cecil and Gordon Brydges.

    Mrs William Thompson
    The unexpected death of Mrs Wm Thompson in Ramsay of Tuesday of last week caused sorrow throughout the community. The late Mrs Thompson whose maiden name was Katherine E. Sims, daughter of the late John Sims and of Mrs Sims, was born on the fourth line of Fitzroy on March 22, 1874. There she resided till her marriage to Wm Thompson in June 1901. For a time the young couple resided in Ottawa and later at Depot Harbour. Fifteen years ago they came to reside on the homestead in Ramsay. Deceased is survived by her husband, two children ? Myrtle, who has been teaching near Pakenham and Roy who is attending High School in Almonte, her mother and five brothers ? Peter T., Lester and George of Strasbourg, Sask, Hamlet and Alfred, of Smiley, Sask. The funeral which was largely attended was held on Friday from her late residence to the eighth line Presbyterian cemetery. The services at the house and graveside were conducted by the Rev V. Collins, pastor of the Almonte Baptist Church. The pallbearers were Messrs Samuel and Charles Brydges, Joseph Symington, sr., Robert Templeton, Adam Craig and F.A. Ross. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, including Broken Circle from mother, husband and family; wreaths from brothers, Peter and George Sims; wreaths from the Thompson and Sinclair families, Detroit, Mich; wreath from Alpha Lodge, I.O.O.F., Almonte; Spray from Mrs Darling; flowers from Mrs Chester Thompson, Mrs T.A. Thompson, Mrs M.F. Smith and Master Wm Paterson. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Peter T. and George Sims of Stasbourg, Sask; Mrs Chester Thompson, Port Rowan; Mr and Mrs C.J. Lyons, Arnprior; Mrs W.A. Willis, Arnprior; Mr and Mrs F.A. Ross, Kinburn.
