    MELANSON, William (Bill) Clifford It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Bill Melanson on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 71 years while on vacation in Mexico. Loving husband of Nicole (Dumas) Melanson for 35 years. Beloved stepfather to Christian (Ad?le) Pag?. Cherished Grandpapa Bill to the "apple of his eye" Am?lie Pag?. Brother of the late Donald Melanson (Norma) and the late Kenneth Melanson. Brother-in-law to Helen Lowe (the late Russell), R?jeanne Lacroix (the late Myles). Son of the late Clifford and the late Ethel (Gordon) Melanson. Bill will also be missed by his nephews, nieces and many friends who loved him greatly. Retired teacher, he leaves behind a legacy of 32 years with Lisgar Collegiate in Ottawa. At Bill's request, no service will be held. In Memory of Bill donations to the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, General Campus would be appreciated.

    MELANSON, Alexander Robert In hospital Ottawa, Ontario, Tuesday, April 5, 1960, Alexander Robert Melanson, beloved husband of the late Caroline Miller in his 94th year. Resting at the Kerry-Scott Funeral Home, Elgin Street, Almonte for service on Thursday, April 7 at 2 p.m. Interment Pak-enham United Cemetery. 38

    After a lengthy illness, the death occurred in hospital in Ottawa on April 5th of one of the pioneers of Pakenham Township, in the person of Alexander Robert Melanson. He was in his 94th year and had lived all his life in Pakenham Township. Mr. Melanson was the youngest and last surviving member of the family of Alexander Melanson and his wife, Agnes M. Kettrick, the others being Mrs. Jas. Connery (Jennie), Pakenham; Joseph, Arnprior and Mrs. John Shane (Ellen), North Dakota. In 1895 he was married to Caroline Millar, who died in 1945. To them was born a family of four daughters and six sons. Those surviving are, Lorne, Pakenham; Mrs. J. C. Fulton (Effie), Cedar Hill; Mrs. James Currie (Agnes), Ottawa; Mrs. Stuart Currie (Ray), Blakeney; Clifford, Pakenham; William, Arnprior; Mrs. Thomas Fulton (Jennie), Pakenham and Joseph, Almonte. A son Kenneth, died in 1955 and another boy died in infancy. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Since the death of his wife, Mr. Melanson made his home with his daughter, Mrs. T. Fulton. In spite of his advanced years, he retained a wonderful memory to the last and delighted in telling many interesting stories of pioneer days. He also continued to have a deep interest in local, political and worldwide affairs. Officiating at the funeral service held in the Kerry-Scott Funeral Home was his pastor, Rev. W. L. Henley of Zion United Church, Cedar Hill, who paid tribute to the character and disposition of the deceased. The large attendance of friends, and neighbours and the numerous floral offerings testified to the esteem in which he was held. The pallbearers were Messrs. Herbert Stanley, John Lawson, Hiram McCann, Clarence Boal, James Connery and Jack Forsythe. Interment was in the United Church Cemetery, Pakenham.

Rev. H. A. Turner conducted the services. Mrs. Melanson died on Thursday Sept. 27. She was in delicate health for many years, owing to a heart condition. She was born in Pakenham Township 73 years ago, a daughter of the late John Millar and his wife, Elizabeth Evans. After her marriage 50 years ago to Mr. Melanson she went to live in Cedar Hill, where she resided until her death. Surviving are her husband, daughters, (Effie), Mrs. J. C. Fulton; (Agnes), Mrs. Jas. Currie, Clayton; (Ray), Mrs. Stuart Currie and Mrs. Thos. Fulton of Pakenham Township; five sons, Lorne, Clifford, Joseph, Kenneth of Cedar Hill and William of Arnprior.     William Gordon
    William Gordon, a well-known and much loved resident of Ramsay Township, passed away suddenly in Rosamond Memorial Hospital, Almonte, on Tuesday, July 17th. The late Mr Gordon farmed all his life in this community. In 1920 he married Carrie Manson, of Middleville who with a family of three survives: Margaret, at home; Earl, of Vancouver, B.C.; Ethel, Mrs Clifford Melanson, of Cedar Hill. Four sisters and two half-brothers also survive: Mrs Maggie Corregan, Spruce Lake, Sask; Mrs Minne Elliott, Sonningdale, Sask; Mrs Eva G. Rankin, Ottawa; Mrs Ada Traill, Smiths Falls; Reuben Giles, Blakeney; Robert Giles, Almonte. His elder brother, Findlay, predeceased him fourteen years ago. Service was conducted at his late residence on Saturday, July 20 by Mr Arthur Powley, Cornwall. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Beautiful floral tributes from close relatives testified to their love and esteem. A donation to the British and Foreign Bible Society was made in tribute by Reta Traill. Other gracious and practical gestures on the part of the neighbours and a large circle of friends were indicative of the respect in which Mr Gordon was held and carried a message of sympathy to the bereaved family. The pallbearers were: Messrs Earl and Frank Manson, Bert and Roy Evans, Tom Barr and Ernie Giles.

    William married Caroline "Carrie" Manson on 24 Mar 1920 in Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     John F. Gordon
    Almonte, May 19 - The death occurred Wednesday at his home, in Ramsay township of John F. Gordon, in his 85th year. He was a son of J.F. Gordon and Ann Wells, of Glasgow, Scotland, early settlers of Lanark village. In 1885, Mr Gordon married Mrs Margaret Ann Giles, formerly Margaret Ann Evans, of Clayton, Ont., who predeceased him in 1928. To this union, two son and four daughters were born, namely, William, and present living on the homestead; Maggie (Mrs Thos Corrigan), and Minnie (Mrs W.J. Elliott), of Sonneugdale, Sask; Ada (Mrs D. Boyd Traill), of Drummond, and Miss Eva, of Ottawa. Mr Gordon was born in Scotland and was one of a family of 10, of whom two survive, Mrs M. A. McFarlane, Ottawa, and Mrs J.A. Morrison, of Prescott. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 p.m. from the family residence in Ramsay to the Auld Kirk cemetery.

    Mrs John F. Gordon
    Mrs Jno F. Gordon, a much esteemed resident of Ramsay township. passed peacefully away at her home on Tuesday, Dec 4th, at the age of 71 years. Her maiden name was Margaret Ann Evans, the eldest daughter of Wm Evans and Betsy Munro of Clayton. While quite young she became the wife of Adonijah Giles, who died in 1882. To them four children were born, Reuben of Blakeney; Robert W. of Almonte. Adonijah and Elizabeth A., Mrs Jacob Price of Sonningdale, Sask. The latter two predeceased her in 1916 and 1918 respectively. Some years later she married Jno F. Gordon, and this union was blessed with six children: Margaret, Mrs Tom Cavanagh, and Minnie, Mrs W.J. Elliott, of Sonningdale, Sask; William, 3rd line Ramsay; Eva, teacher in Crichton School, Ottawa; Findlay and Ada at home, All of these, with their father survive. The funeral service was conducted by Rev J.R. MacCrimmon of Bethany United Church, Almonte and was held on Thursday, Dev 6th, at 2 o'clock to the Auld Kirk cemetery. During the service Mrs J. Reilly and Mrs Clarence Kellough, by request, sang sweetly, "On Calvary's Brow." The pallbearers were Messrs George Robertson, Angus Sutherland, P.Y. Sutherland, John Turner, Will Giles and Herbert Coxford, The following floral tributes attest to the love deceased had won in hearts of neighbours and friends and expressed their sympathy: Gate Ajar, the family; Wreaths, Staff of Crichton Public School, Ottawa, Mrs N.J. Holmes, Ottawa; Mr and Mrs W.R. Traill, Lanark; Mr D. Boyd Traill, Sprays, Mrs Dr. MacFarlane and family, Ottawa; Pupils of Grade 6 and 7 Crichton School, Ottawa; Mrs J. Chapman and family, Mr and Mrs P. Morris Turner, Almonte; Mrs H. and Bert Snyder, Ottawa.
