Laura Batise<br>Death: Aug 8 2010<br>Published: Aug 11 2010 - Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada<br>Published By: Northern News<br>Obituary: FLOOD, Laura - Passed away suddenly & peacefully at Kirkland & District Hospital on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the age of 84. Laura was born February 1, 1926 at Matachewan First Nation to Annie (McLeod) and Harry Batisse. She is survived by her children Lorne Davidson Flood (Elenor); Laura Jean Flood (Nelson Costello); Dorothy Larkman; Terry Belinger; Lois (Dave) Dearden; John (Marney) Flood; Dan (Marlene) Flood; Barb Somerville; Velma (Fred) Nichol; Kieth (Alice) Flood; Sheila (Don) Connors; daughter in law Patricia Flood, 34 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, sister Elsie Plourde and brother Barney (Doreen) Batise and 28 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Wycliffe Davidson Flood; sons Clarence Flood & Leonard Flood; daughters Jean Flood & Joyce (Flood) Nichol; brothers Felix, Eli, Mike, George, Larry; sisters Louisa Millen, Lorena McKenzie. The family will receive friends at the Matachewan First Nation Community Building starting Wednesday August 11th at 10 am. The funeral will be held on Thursday August 12, 2010 at 11 am from the Matachewan First Nation Community Building. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to; Native Child and Family Services of Toronto (Grundy Lake Summer Camp) 30 College Street Toronto ON M5G 1K2. Laura was known as grandma to this very large extended family that she spent a number of summers with till she retired at 75 years old. Laura will be missed by family; extended family; friends and all those WHO's life she touched.
