    Mr. Samuel Fraser Cox, one of the best known residents of Hull, passed away last evening at 10.10. He had been ill for some months with pleurisy, but the end came rather suddenly and unexpectedly. The deceased was born in Ottawa on June 10, 1847. He was educated in the Ottawa Public schools, and when a young man entered the employ of the M.B. Eddy Company. He afterwards secured a lucrative position with the Upper Ottawa Improvement Co., which he held for 25 years. Recognized as a citizen of sterling worth, he took quite a prominent place in the public life of Hull. Among other positions he served as chairman of the trustee board of the Model school at Hull. He was also a prominent member of the Western Methodist church of Ottawa, and a strong adherent of the Sons of Temperance Society.
    In 1875 he married to Miss E. McNiece of Drummond township. The children resulting from their marriage were : Dr. James R. Cox, medical missionary in China; George E., of this city; Charles, in his second year medical courses at McGill University; Harry, deceased three year ago; Mrs. W.M. Dean, 18 Primrose avenue, city. He is survived by Mrs. Geo. Fowler of Ottawa; Mrs. I. Starr, Rideau; Miss Charlotte Cox, of Ottawa; and Miss Mary Cox, of Toronto, sisters. The funeral takes place on Friday at 3 o'clock to Hull cemetery.
