    Final tribute was paid to Edward Chamney Cooke, well-known, area resident at his funeral which was held on Tuesday, November 7, 1972, from the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, McArthur Avenue, where the service was conducted in the Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. K. J. Murray officiating. Interment was in Boyd's United Cemetery. Mr. Cooke, who had resided at 183 High St., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, in Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 83 years of age. Born March 15, 1889, in Scotch Corners, he was a son of the late Seeley Cooke and Rebecca Chamney. He spent his entire life time farming, retiring in 1964 and came to Carleton Place with Mrs. Cooke to take up residence on High St. He attended Zion-Memorial United Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Frances McIntyre; a daughter, Mary (Mrs. R. Arthur Stedman) of Don Mills, Ont.; two grandsons, Bruce and Brian Stedman and a sister, Mrs. Anne McMullen of Merrickville, Ont. He was predeceased by a brother Frank and a sister Laura (Mrs. Byron Bowland), both of Carleton Place. The pallbearers were Pete McGregor, Frank McGregor, Bruce Stedman, Ronald Cooke, Clifford Gardiner and Caldwell Wilson.

    Hannah Frances Cooke, Lanark Lodge, Perth , died in hospital at Perth , Ontario , Friday, Feb. 3, 1978, age 83 after a short illness. Born in Ramsay Township August 24, 1894, Mrs. Cooke was a daughter of the late Arthur McIntyre and his wife, Mary Jane Price. Mrs. Cooke was a graduate of Carleton Place High School, Ottawa Normal School and the University of Guelph . Married to the late Edward Chamney Cooke in 1927 at Carleton Place, Mrs. Cooke taught in the Carleton Place area until her retirement in 1956. She was a member of Rocky Ridge Women's Institute for many years and a member of Zion-Memorial United Church . Mrs. Cooke is survived by her only daughter, Mary Stedman, and two grandchildren, Bruce and Brian Stedman, Don Mills, Ontario . She was predeceased in 1958 by her sister, Amelia (McIntyre) Driskell, Midland , Michigan . The funeral service took place, Sunday, Feb. 5, 1978 , at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Barker Funeral Home, Carleton Place, with Rev. Kenneth J. Murray officiating. The Committal service took place in the chapel and interment will take place in the spring in Boyd's United Cemetery.

    CARLETON PLACE, Ont., Oct. 18. 1933 - An outstanding tribute was paid to the memory of Seeley Coolie, whose funeral was held yesterday afternoon from his late home on High street, to Boyd's United Church and interment was made in Boyd's United cemetery, In the long cortege were representative citizens from near and distant part, including Ottawa, Merrickville, Almonte, Pakenham. Perth, Smiths Falls, Lanark and Drummond Center who joined with friends from, Carleton Place, where Mr. Cooke had lived for several years and from Scotch Corners, where he was born, to pay their last respects. Rev. D. C. Munro, of Memorial Park Church, officiated at the service, assisted by Rev. J. S. Ferguson and Rev. Mr. Caswell of Carleton Place. When the funeral arrived at the church it was filled to capacity and many had to remain outside during the service. Many beautiful floral tributes as well as numerous messages of sympathy received by the family and the large attendance attested to the very high esteem in which he was held. The pallbearers were. Melvin Dezell, Samuel Morris. Russell Cooke, Robert. Dowdall, John Chamney, Robert Gardiner.

    On Monday of last week Mr Arthur McIntyre of Ramsay was at the Telephone Co's. meeting, one of the interested shareholders; on Wednesday he was taken ill, and on Monday of this week he passed away from heart failure. His mother was a sister of the Langs ? James, Alex , and others. He was born on the farm on the 7th line of Ramsay, upon which he spent his entire life of 62 years. His wife died two years ago, but two daughters, Frances and Amelia aged 19 and 16 years respectively, are still living. There are also two sisters, Mrs J. Dunlop of Pakenham and Mrs Publow of Pilot Mound, Man. The funeral took place on Wednesday to the eighth line cemetery, and was a fitting tribute to the memory of one of the most respected citizens Ramsay township has ever lost. Quiet and retiring in disposition, yet he was possessed of a warm heart, a sterling character, and a reputation for honesty and probity that was an open sesame to all doors whether as a friend, a neighbour or advisor. He was a member of St. Andrew's church, Carleton Place, and the pastor Rev Mr Monds, officiated at the funeral.

    Arthur married Mary Jane Price in 1888.     Much sympathy is felt for Mr Arthur L. McIntyre in the loss he has sustained by the death of his wife, which took place Tuesday, July 13th, in the General Hospital, Montreal, where she had gone a few days before for treatment for throat trouble. Mrs McIntyre, whose maiden name was Mary Jane Price, was the third daughter of the late James Price of Ramsay. She was married to Mr McIntyre twenty-one years ago, and five children blessed their union, of whom three died in infancy. Two girls survive, Frances and Lillie, with their father. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon to the 8th line cemetery, Ramsay, and was largely attended, some 80 odd carriages being in the procession. The service was conducted by Rev J.J. Monds, of whose church deceased was a member. The pall-bearers were Messrs John McArton, Wm Porterfiled, W. Paul, Jos Chapman, Jos Smith and W. J. Paul, all of whom are neighbours. The bereaved husband and family have the sincere sympathy of the whole community in their sad loss. Messrs John and William Price, on the homestead, Samuel and Robert in town, and Thomas of Easton's Corners are brothers; Mrs H. Young, town, Mrs R.G. Armstrong of Kingston, and Mrs Wm Dohaerty of Beckwith are sisters of deceased.

    Last Thursday evening Mrs John McIntyre, of Ramsay, who was 74 years of age, went over to spend the evening with Mrs C. Wallace, a neighbour, apparently in her usual health. A few hours later she took a weak turn, and passed away early Friday morning. The deceased lady, whose maiden name was Frances Lang, of Beckwith, was a sister of Mr. Wm. Lang, and was well known throughout the district, having resided hereabouts most all her life. The funeral took place on Sunday, to 8th line cemetery, and was very largely attended, some 75 carriages being in the procession.
