Passed away peacefully in hospital at Ottawa, Ontario on Tuesday, April 9, 2002. Wendell McRae of Stittsville at the age of 76 years. Beloved husband for 55 years of Claire Shanks. Loving father of Ronald (Helen), Wendy Ford (Brian), Kenneth, Richard (Bernadette) and Blair (Debby). Loving Grandpop of Matthew and Angela Ford. Survived by his brothers James (Claudette) and William (Mariette) and sisters Audrey (Bill Hunter) and Norma (Stan Kerfoot). Predeceased by his parents Norman and Muriel (Simpson), son Donald Gordon, and sisters Myrtle and Elizabeth Reid (Glenn). Wendell was a charter member of the Stittsville District Lions Club and was a 27 year employee of Thomas C. Assaly Corporation as a construction manager. Friends may call at the ALAN R. BARKER FUNERAL HOME 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service to be held in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. Donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation. Feb. 9 The funeral of William James Simpson, life-long resident of Goulburn. took place from his late home on the 7th lines Tuesday , afternoon and was largely attended. Rev. T. A. Woods of the United church. Ashton. conducted the services
The pall-bearers were Harry I McArton, William Anderson. Roy Fee. Hubert Fee, all nephews; Eric Simpson and Stewart Lewis, sons-in-law. Numerous beautiful floral tributes were received and many friends from Carleton Place and the surrounding districts were in attendance.
The late Mr. Simpson, who passed away on Sunday, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Simpson and was born in Goulburn on the farm where he passed away.
He was married in Ramsay to Miss Sarah Greig who survives, with one son, Cecil, at home: also two daughters. Mrs. Stewart Lewis, and Mrs. Norman McRae, both of Beckwith. Two sisters. Mrs. James McArton. of Huntley. and Mrs. Robert Anderson, of Goulburn, also survive.

William married Sarah Jane Greig on 15 Jan 1896 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Sarah (daughter of John Fairburn Greig and Sarah Thompson) was born on 6 Jan 1870 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died in 1944 in Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in 1944 in Dewar Cemetery, Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
