    ?/b?Georgo Philip Baker, 56. of Calgary and formerly of Regina, an older brother of Mayor H. H. P. Baker, died suddenly in hospital Wednesday.
    Funeral service will be held in Calgary Saturday at 1 p.m. in Garden's Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Queens Park Cemetery in Calgary.
    The mayor will not be present at the funeral, as he is attending an international convention of mayors in Vienna and is not scheduled to return to Canada until July 9.
    Born in Lipton, Mr. Baker received his elementary and high school education there. Following graduation, he was employed in various Saskatchewan locations including Southey, Govan and Cadillac as an accountant for the Royal Bank of Canada. He worked at the main branch' of the Royal Bank in Regina for some time until he joined the army in 1940. He was medically discharged from the army about six months later, and returned to his position at the bank, where he worked until 1944.
    He served as general manager of Sherwood Co-operatives Association Ltd. from 1944 to 1945. when he began working for the Federated Co-operatives Ltd. as the branch accountant.
    In 1948, lie started working for Federated Agencies Ltd. and in 1950, he moved to Swift Current, where he was employed as general manager of Pioneer Co-operatives Association for about 11 years, during which time he served on several boards including the Federated Co-operatives Ltd., Federated Agencies Ltd. and the Pioneer Credit Union.
    He moved to California in 19lil and operated a private business there before returning to Regina in 19S2, where he was employed with the provincial economic planning board. He besan a private business in 1965 and moved to Calgary in 1967, where he was employed as a field representative for Co-operative Insurance Services until the time of his death.
    Predeceased by his father, John Baker in 1961 and two sisters, Dorothy in 1967 and Gertrude in 1968, Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Doreen of Calgary; a daughter, Mrs. Glen Cooper and a son, Gary of Calgary; his mother, Mrs. Charlotte Baker of Pioneer Village; two sisters, Mrs. Wesley Francke of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. George Paus of Patrick; and six brothers, Mayor Baker of 609 College Ave., Arnold of 3911 24th Ave., Jack of 3402 Westgate Ave., John of Vancouver, and William and Eric of Edmonton.

    George married Doreen Marguerite Alexander, R. N. on 28 Dec 1940 in Govan, Saskatoon Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada. Doreen (daughter of Frances Norman "Frank" Alexander and Minnie Etheline Scott) was born on 13 Dec 1913 in Govan, Saskatoon Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada; died on 10 Nov 1995 in Calgary, Calgary Census Division, Alberta, Canada; was buried on 15 Nov 1995 in Queens Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, Calgary, Calgary Census Division, Alberta, Canada.     GOVAN. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Alexander announce the engagement of their daughter, Doreen Marguerite, to Mr. George Phillip Baker, Imperial. The wedding will take place at Govan the latter part of December.
