    Gary Baker passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the age of 67 years.

    Gary is survived by his wife and friend of many years Joan Baker; the light of his life and daughter Jamie Baker of Medicine Hat, AB; and his best furry four-legged friend Big Mac. He was predeceased and is survived by many important and cherished friends, family and pets.

    A Celebration of Gary's life will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 2:00 ? 6:00 p.m. Please contact the family directly for location details.     ?/b?Georgo Philip Baker, 56. of Calgary and formerly of Regina, an older brother of Mayor H. H. P. Baker, died suddenly in hospital Wednesday.
    Funeral service will be held in Calgary Saturday at 1 p.m. in Garden's Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Queens Park Cemetery in Calgary.
    The mayor will not be present at the funeral, as he is attending an international convention of mayors in Vienna and is not scheduled to return to Canada until July 9.
    Born in Lipton, Mr. Baker received his elementary and high school education there. Following graduation, he was employed in various Saskatchewan locations including Southey, Govan and Cadillac as an accountant for the Royal Bank of Canada. He worked at the main branch' of the Royal Bank in Regina for some time until he joined the army in 1940. He was medically discharged from the army about six months later, and returned to his position at the bank, where he worked until 1944.
    He served as general manager of Sherwood Co-operatives Association Ltd. from 1944 to 1945. when he began working for the Federated Co-operatives Ltd. as the branch accountant.
    In 1948, lie started working for Federated Agencies Ltd. and in 1950, he moved to Swift Current, where he was employed as general manager of Pioneer Co-operatives Association for about 11 years, during which time he served on several boards including the Federated Co-operatives Ltd., Federated Agencies Ltd. and the Pioneer Credit Union.
    He moved to California in 19lil and operated a private business there before returning to Regina in 19S2, where he was employed with the provincial economic planning board. He besan a private business in 1965 and moved to Calgary in 1967, where he was employed as a field representative for Co-operative Insurance Services until the time of his death.
    Predeceased by his father, John Baker in 1961 and two sisters, Dorothy in 1967 and Gertrude in 1968, Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Doreen of Calgary; a daughter, Mrs. Glen Cooper and a son, Gary of Calgary; his mother, Mrs. Charlotte Baker of Pioneer Village; two sisters, Mrs. Wesley Francke of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. George Paus of Patrick; and six brothers, Mayor Baker of 609 College Ave., Arnold of 3911 24th Ave., Jack of 3402 Westgate Ave., John of Vancouver, and William and Eric of Edmonton.

She will be greatly missed by her survivors, son Gary Baker and wife Joan of Calgary; daughter Sharon Papke and husband Cec of DeWinton; granddaughters, Tanya Cooper of Vancouver, and Jamie Marie Baker of Calgary; as well as many close friends and other family members. Doreen was predeceased by her husband George Philip Baker, and brother Morley Alexander of Renfrew, Ontario. Doreen was a graduate of Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in May 1937 and practised nursing throughout her working career in Winnipeg, Regina and Calgary, until her retirement from Calgary Foothills Hospital in 1978.     Funeral of Mrs. Alexander
    The remains of the late Mrs. Frank Alexander, who died at Govan, Sask. last week reached Almonte on Sunday morning, accompanied by her husband. the funerl took place on Monday afternoon from the residence of her brother, Mr. W. E. Scott, and among the town friends who attended were others from smiths Falls, Carleton Place, clayton and other places. The remains were placed in the eighth line cemetery vault.

    Mrs Alexander
    Word of the sudden death of Mrs Frank N. Alexander (nee Minnie Scott), was received on Tuesday, February 1st, by her brother, Mr W.E. Scott, of town. A letter received the day before contained no hint, even of illness, which added to the sudden shock. The late Mrs Alexander was the youngest daughter of Mrs S. Baldwin, by her former husband, the late Wm Scott, was born in Ramsay, and was 34 years of age. She taught school in Almonte for several years, and in 1907 she went west to take a position as teacher at Govan, Sask. About five years ago she was married to Mr Frank N. Alexander, who, with two children, a boy of four years and a little girl of two years, are left to mourn, besides her mother, three sisters and two brothers. These are Mrs R.W. Young, of Ramsay; Mrs John Robertson, of Castor, Alta; Mrs W.S. Baldwin, of Govan, Sask; Mr W.E. Scott, town. Mrs Alexander's death is the first break in the family circle since her father's. The remains are being brought to Almonte for burial, and are expected to reach her on Sunday morning's Imperial Limited. The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of her brother, Mr W.E. Scott.

    Mr. Wm. Scott, the well-known farmer of the 3rd line of Ramsay, died on Saturday last, from an attack of heart failure, and was buried in the cemetery at Boyd's Settlement on Monday, the funeral being largely attended. The late Mr. Scott was born in Ireland 78 years ago, and came to Canada in 1849 - forty-four years ago. He spent those forty-four years in Ramsay township. Mr. Scott was married three times, and had sixteen children, thirteen of whom survive, with fifty-three grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren, to mourn his loss.

    The death took place at Govern, Sask, on Tuesday April 17 of Mary Jane Kemp, wife of Mr. Sherman Baldwin. The remains were brought East for interment at Almonte and were accompanied by her daughter Mrs. W.S. Baldwin, arriving on Saturday April 21. The funeral took place on Sunday from the residence of her son Mr. W.E. Scott, Elgin St., to the Presbyterian Cemetery of Ramsay.

    the late Mrs. Baldwin, who was the relict of William Scott of the Union Hall Section, was born on June 4, 1840, and spent sixty-eight years on the farm on which she was born, removing west to Govan, Saskatchewan, in March 1909.

    It was always the wish of Mrs. Baldwin that her remains would be laid in the Old Kirk Cemetery, 8th. line Ramsay, having attended the church there when a girl, as far back as the year 1850.

    She leaves beside her husband to mourn her loss three daughters and two sons; Lucinda, Mrs R.W Young, Ramsay; Jean, Mrs John Robertson, Alberta; Addie, Mrs W.S Baldwin, Saskatchewan; John A. Scott, Toronto and W.E Scott, Almonte. The youngest daughter, Minnie, Mrs. F.N Alexander, predeceased her seven years ago. All the members of the family were present at the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Robertson.

    The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jas. D. McCrae. The pallbearers were Messrs M.R. MacFarlane , W.C Pollock, George A. Robertson, W.A. Nichols, Lawrence Naismith, Jos. Paul and John Lindsay.
