    Notes:

    Died:
Doris Lucille Palmer Watters, 81, of Idaho Falls, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living center in Idaho Falls.

Doris was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Andes, Mont., the daughter of Lee Samuel and Mary Helen Pederson Palmer. Doris was born on a farmstead in rural Richland County, Montana. While school was in session, she would live with her mother in town. During the spring and summer, she would live out on the farmstead tending to the orphan lambs and working as a shepherd for the family flock. After graduation from high school, Doris attended Montana State University in Bozeman, graduating in 1953 with a degree in home economics.

She married Walter Eugene Watters on Dec. 31, 1952, in Culbertson, Mont., at St. Anthony Catholic Church, a rural parish where her family attended. Doris and her husband, Walt, raised seven children while living in New York, California, Montana, Oregon and Idaho. They were deeply involved in the lives of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While Walt was working, Doris devoted herself to raising the children and managing the household, working at times as a substitute teacher and in the school cafeteria, once the at-home population of children dwindled.

Her pride was in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her faith in Jesus. She was a mentor, teacher, nurse, friend and mother to her children. She was quick to feed visitors, known for her brownies, huckleberry pie and lasagna. Doris loved to visit with friends and relatives. She loved sewing, and many a child and grandchild slept soundly in her hand-made pajamas.

Doris was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and had a strong devotion to Our Lady, praying the rosary either early in the morning or before retiring for the evening. She was active in parish prayer groups, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a variety of other parish activities until her health made it impossible to continue.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Wonacott of Nampa and Diane Wagner of Sammamish, Wash.; sons, Donald Watters and James Watters, both of Idaho Falls, Michael Watters of Fayetteville, N.C., and Samuel Watters of Bloomington, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; four brothers; her daughter, Kathleen Hootman; and her husband, Walter Watters.

Recitation of the rosary will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 5, with a visitation from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., both at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th St. in Idaho Falls. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, on the corner of Ninth Street and South Lee Avenue in Idaho Falls, followed by a graveside ceremony in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Doris married Walter Eugene Watters on 31 Dec 1952 in Culbertson, Roosevelt County, Montana, United States. Walter (son of James Albert Watters and Eliza Jane Coffey) was born on 3 Oct 1927 in Nashua, Valley County, Montana, United States; died on 17 Nov 2008 in Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, United States; was buried in Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, United States.
