    Oldest son of William Herriot Jr. and Amanda Sykes. Husband of Ina Katheryn Smith, to whom he wed on Oct. 28. 1912 at Osnabrock. He was a grain farmer at Ardoch until coming to Nekoma in 1922. There he ran the light plant, did carpentry work, also worked in a garage and gas station for several years. He returned to farming around 1934, retiring in 1945. He died at age 81 of heart failure and was survived by two daughters -- Nova and Beatrice. A son died in infancy.

    William married Ina Catherine Smith on 28 Oct 1912 in Osnabrock, Cavalier County, North Dakota, United States. Ina was born in 1898; died in 1923; was buried in Langdon, Cavalier County, North Dakota, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

They were the parents of 11 children -- William, Myrtle, Mae, Barbara, Hiram, Elmer, Margaret, Henry, Florence, Gladys, and Harvey. William died at age 77 of angina pectoris.

    With her parents, Amanda came from Canada to North Dakota around 1878. She married William Herriot, Jr. on June 3, 1887 in Osnabrock. They were the parents of 11 children -- William, Myrtle, Mae, Barbara, Hiram, Elmer, Margaret, henry, Florence, Gladys, and Harvey. Amanda died in Perry Twp. at age 68 of stomach cancer.
