    Peacefully at Fairview Manor, Almonte, on Wednesday December 24, 2014 at the age of 87. Predeceased by his wife Christena Helen Gardiner. Loving father of John (Naydene), Christena (Lance Rygiel) and James (Lisa). Proud grandfather of Jaclyn, Johanna, Ben, Isabel, Mary, Stella and Maxwell. Friends may visit the family at the Alan R.     Friends and neighbours united in paying final tribute to Robert George Gardiner at his funeral last Wednesday afternoon from the Fleming Bros. Funeral Home, Lake Avenue west, to Zion United Church where Rev. H. E. Parsons, assisted by Rev. Gordon Hammond conducted the service. Interment was made in the United Cemeteries. Mr. Gardiner, who resided on High street, died in Memorial Hospital on July 22 after a brief illness. He was 61 years of age. Born June 29, 1901, at Balderson, he was a son of the late John E. Gardiner and his wife, Isabella Menzies. For years he conducted a transfer business from his home. He attended Zion United Church. Mr. Gardiner was married to the former Hazel Dezell at Perth on October 13, 1925. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Ivan Gardiner of Carleton Place; daughters, Mrs. W. E. H. (Ileane) Cooper of Metz, France; Mrs. David (Irma) Willoughby of Ottawa; Mrs. Malcolm (Marlyn) Storey of Richmond; Mrs. Leonard (Nora) Sadler of Richmond; two brothers, William Gardiner and J. Norman Gardiner of Balderson; also a sister, Mrs. Milford Chambers of town. The pallbearers were Raymond Chambers, Ottawa, Ross Dezell of Scotch Corners, nephews; Clifford Gardiner, Scotch Corners, a cousin; Caldwell Wilson of town, Lindsay Campbell and Lorne Bell of Perth.

Dear mother of Ivan Gardiner, Irma (Mrs. David Willoughby), all of R.R. 2, Carleton Place; Marlyn (Mrs. Malcolm Storey), Nora (Mrs. Leonard Sadler), all of Richmond. Predeceased by one daughter, Ileane and by daughter-in-law, Helen Gardiner Survived by son-in-law, William Cooper, Ottawa Survived by 12 grandchildren and by 18 great-grandchildren Predeceased by 1 great-grandson and by sisters, Alvina Dowdall, Margaret Hammond, Harriet Taylor, Elizabeth Waugh and by brothers, Seeley, William, Melvin, Oliver and Milton Dezell.     EDWIN McNEELY JAMES
    Edwin McNeely James of Carleton Place died Sunday May 25, 1975 at the Great War Memorial Hospital in Perth. Mr James was born May 23, 1901 at James Settlement in Lanark Township. He was the son of Thomas E. James and Hannah McNeely. He was educated at James School, Carleton Place High School and the Guelph Agricultural School. Mr James worked the family farm in Lanark Township for many years. he was also a former school board member and councillor then Reeve in Lanark Township. His involvement in politics involved government at all three levels. he was returning officer in both federal and provincial elections. Mr James attended St Georges Anglican Church in Clayton and was a member of St James Lodge,Maple Chapter, Remesis Temple and Land of Lakes Shrine Club. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Haley in October, 1954. They were married June 22, 1927, at St Johns Anglican Church in Innisville. He is survived by a son, T Harold of RR 2, Almonte and two daughters, C Helen, (Mrs Ivan Gardiner), Carleton Place and Mary H (Mrs Lloyd Wilson) Kingston. He is also survived by his sister Ellen E Connell of Toronto and numerous grandchildren. Mr James is predeceased by a brother, Ben E. James and a sister, Lillian A Stanley. The funeral service was held May 27 from the Alan Barker Funeral Home to St Georges Anglican Church where Rev Harry Brown officiated. Burial was at the Anglican Cemetery in Clayton. The evening before, Monday, May 26, a Masonic service was held at the funeral home. Pallbearers were: Bennie James, Ronnie James, Alf James, Sid Mohr, Ronald Couch and Bill Halpenny. Shiners formed a guard of honour at the funeral.

    Edwin married Mary Haley in 1927 in Boyd's Settlement, Lanark Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     MRS. E.M. JAMES
    Largely attended by neighbouring friends and relatives, the funeral of Mrs. Edwin McNeely James took place last Friday afternoon from her late residence, 12 line of Lanark, to St. George's Anglican Church, Clayton, where Rev. A.E. Allsopp conducted the service. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. Mrs. James died October 20, following a lengthy illness. She was in her 50th year. The former Mary Haley, she was born in Drummond Township, daughter of the late Edward Haley and his wife, Tena Tullis. She was married to Mr. James in St. John's Anglican Church at Innisville. Mrs. James was a devout member of St. George's Church, and a member of the Altar Guild and Women's Auxiliary. She was also a1 member of the Women's Institute branch. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Harold, at home; two daughters, Helen, Mrs. Ivan Gardiner, Carleton Place, and Mary Haley at honie; sisters, Bessie, Mrs. Howard Traill, Lanark; Bertha, Mrs. Alan Livingstone, Perth; Isabel, Mrs. Elmer Couch, Lanark. The pallbearers were Jack Watters, Mansel Haley, Alan McFarlane, Alfred James, Frank James and Ed. Halpenny. Many beautiful floral tributes were received.

    Thomas Edward James
    The death occurred at the family home, Lanark Township on Friday, March 16th of Thomas Edward James. He was born July 5, 1859 a son of the late Benjamin James and Ellen Bowland. He was married on December 24th, 1895 to Hannah McNeely, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Brice McNeely, Carleton Place, who predeceased him in 1920. He leaves two daughters and two sons, namely, Lillian, Mrs. Herbert Stanley, Pakenham; Ellen, Mrs. W.H. Connell, Toronto; Benjamin E. and Edwin M., of Lanark Township. The funeral was held from the family home on March 19th to St. George's Church, Clayton where service was conducted by the Rev. D. F. Weegar, rector of the parish. Pallbearers were W.L. James, Herbert James, Gordon, Frank and John James and John F. James. The remains were taken to the vault in St. Paul's Cemetery, Almonte, where a Masonic Service was held under the auspices of Mississippi Lodge, A. F. & A. M. He was the last of a family of eight brothers and one sister, William, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Edwin, Herbert J., James M.D. and Mrs. Wm. Robertson, all of Bathgate, N. D.; John R. of Ramsay Township and Alfred of Lanark Township. He was a member of the Township Council for many years and a member of Mississippi Lodge, No. 147, A.F. & A.M., Almonte, and of the Royal Arch Masons. For years he served on the executive of the Lanark County Progressive Conservative Association and was one of the original directors of and a former president of the Lanark and Carleton Counties Telephone Company. Among many floral tributes from the family, relatives and friends was one from Mississippi Lodge A.F. & A.M.

    Thomas married Hannah McNeely on 24 Dec 1895 in Carleton Place, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     Mrs Thos. E. James
    The death occurred on the 12th Concession of Lanark on Wednesday morning of last week of Mrs Thomas E. James, in her 51st year. About three years ago she underwent an operation from which she never fully recovered. Mrs James was born in 1869 at Carleton Place, her maiden name being Hannah McNeely, a daughter of Mr Bryce McNeely, sen. In 1894 she married to Mr Thomas E James. Her husband, two son and two daughters survive. Lillian, Benjamin and Edwin are at home and Ellen is attending High School in Carleton Place. The funeral took place Friday afternoon from the family residence to St George's cemetery, at Clayton, where interment was made. Rev G. Brunet, Anglican pastor at Clayton, conducted the services.
