Mrs Cephas Tosh
Mrs Cephas Tosh passed away in the Almonte General Hospital on Feb 22nd at the age of 66 following a lengthy illness borne with wonderful fortitude. Seven years ago she suffered a stroke from which she made only a slight recovery. Born in Arnprior, her maiden name was Florence Elsie Bond, a daughter of the late George Bond and his wife Mary Whyte. In 1918, she married Cephas Tosh and they live in Almonte all their married life. Mr Tosh predeceased her in 1958. Mrs Tosh is survived by four daughters (Dorothy) Mrs Victor Gilhuly, Toronto; (Elsie) Mrs A. Stanley, Almonte; (Roberta) Mrs R. Green, Toronto and (Margaret) Mrs McNeely, Peterborough, and two sons, Messrs George Tosh, Almonte and Robert Tosh of Carp. Two daughter, Adelaide and Mary predeceased her. There are 15 grandchildren. She also leaves six sisters: Chrissie, Mrs Alex Tosh; Jean, Mrs Thos Proctor; Kathleen, Mrs Harvey Goodfellow, all of Almonte; Ruby, Mrs Harry Nontell, Denbeigh; Alberna, Mrs Albert Rose, Point Edward and Pansy, Mrs Harry Keihl, Kitchener. Mr Tosh was a member of the Almonte Presbyterian Church, the Heather Club and the Atthewell Rebekah Lodge. The funeral service was held on Thursday, Feb. 25 at the Comba Funeral Home with Rev D. Leslie Elder, minister of Almonte Presbyterian Church officiating. The pallbearers were Messrs Stuart, Mervin and Orville Tosh, Allyn Goodfellow, Gordon Nontell and Thos. Proctor Jr. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery.

Florence married Cephas Gladstone Tosh in 1919. Cephas (son of Robert Carswell Tosh and Caroline Elizabeth Powers) was born on 29 May 1898 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 28 Aug 1958 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.
