    Another Old Settler at Rest
Again it becomes our duty to chronicle the demise of one of the hardy pioneers of this section - one who had his share of hardships incident to the vicissitudinary period in which this county was first settled - in the person of Mr Robert Duncan, of Ramsay, who passed away on Tuesday morning last, in his 86th year. His death was sudden, He arose as ussual, ate a hearty breakfast and died half an hour later, from heart failure it is suposed. For the last eight or ten years Mr Duncan had been subject to occasional weak spells; prior to that time he always enjoyed vigorous health. Deceased was born in Paisley, Scotland in January 1808. He came to Canada with his parents in 1821. They settled the same year on the 11th line of Ramsay, in which deceased lived continuously till his death., a period of over seventy years. Mr Duncan was twice married - first to Margaret Lockhart, by whom he had two children, Mrs James Caskey, of this town, and Mrs James Stirton, of Seatle, Washington and by his second wife Eliza McLinton, who survives him, seven children, all of whom are living, viz: Robert, David and Margaret, in Manitoba; James of Arnprior; Alex, in Detroit; William and Mary, on the homestead. In religion deceased was a Presbyterian, and in politics a Reformer. He never sought public office of any kind. He was a man of unswerving integrity, and enjoyed the respect of his neighbours and acquaintances; and a host of friends will receive the anouncement of his death with sincere sorrow. The remains will be interred in the eighth line cemetery this (Thursday) afternoon
