Notes: (Research):From George Caskey: Lilias came to Canada as an escort for her younger brother Thomas. Met John in Winnipeg through some friends. She was a trained singer and was known in Glasgow as the little girl with the big voice. Arrived in Bateman in July 1925. In 1926 she started a choir for the new church being built. For this and the many plays and concerts she organizaed, she was on Sept 23 1951 presented with a bone china tea service, tea table and lunch cloth on her 25th anniversary as choir leader. In her own words 'I enjoy the work. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to share my talent in this friendly community'. Charles married Maggie Chalmers Brown on 13 Apr 1886 in Hareshaw Farm, Greenhill, Scotland.
