As a civilian he worked in mechanical engineering at various places, including Hobart, Goodrich, and Interflex in Troy, OH. He worked for Boyd Coddington (Boyd's Billet Wheels) in California, feeding his love of hotrods and muscle cars. His interest in airplanes took him to McDonnell Douglas in California and on to Boeing in the state of Washington. In 1991 Kit and Merri ventured to Alaska where they assumed management of a family automotive business, fed Kit's passion for fishing and the great outdoors, and made their home for 20 years. In 2011 Kit and Merri retired to Troy, Ohio, to be near family and friends, a decision that could not have been timelier. Memorial services with military honors presented by Veterans Memorial Honor Guard will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Baird Funeral Home of Troy, Ohio, Reverend John Shelton officiating.
