    At the Victoria General Hospital on Friday, August 29, 1980. Survived by his loving wife, Ethel; daughter and son-in-law Dr. John and Mary Emerson; and grandson, Scott of Victoria; sister, Mrs. K.E. Betts, Maryland, U.S.A.; brother, John A. English, Toronto, Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. English, a civil engineer was employed by the CNR. for 35 years and a was a past President of the James Bay New Horizon Society. Memorial service Wednesday, September 3, at 2 p.m. in the First United Church Chapel, Balmoral at Quadra. Reverend Hugh Hunter officiating. Flowers .gratefully declined, friends so desiring may contribute to the James Bay Horizon Society, 234 Menzies St., Victoria, V8V 2G7. Arrangements through the Memorial Society of B.C. and First Memorial Services.

    Ethel passed away peacefully at Mt. Tolmie Hospital Monday, June 22, 1998. Predeceased by her husband, Edgar in 1980, she is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Emerson and adored grandsons, Scott and Chris, brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty English of Burlington, Ontario as well as seven nieces and nephews. She was born in Minto, Manitoba and a graduate of the Winnipeg General School of Nursing. Ethel was active in the life of the James Bay Community, in New Horizons and was part of the early foundation of Beckley Farm Lodge and the James Bay Community Project. She was also an active member of First United Church. Thanks to the caring staff of Berkley Farm Lodge and Mt. Tolmie Hospital over the past five years. Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 26 at 2 p.m. in First Memorial Chapel, 4725 Falaise Dr., Victoria, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, 3150 Napier Lane or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1-947 Fort St., Victoria, B.C., V8V2K3. FIRST MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICES 658-5244
