TOOP, Harry G. 1918 - 2010
Peacefully at home in his 93rd year with daughters by his side. Harry was predeceased by his beloved wife Grace (MacEachern) in 1995 and by his siblings Arthur, Fred, Dorothy, Bill, Mary, Bert, Ewen and Maybeth. Survived by brother Aylmer of Carleton Place, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His memory will be cherished by daughters Judy Toop, Janet Kindopp, Cheryl (Nick) Theodoru, Cathy Kositsin, Deborah (Larry) Ivany. Left behind seven grandchildren David (Lori) and Daniel Kindopp, Mark (Lovella) and Alissa Theodoru, Michael (Crystal) Kositsin, Chris (Kalin) and Dale Ivany and great-grandchildren Jeremiah, Timothy, Hannah, Abigail Theodoru. Harry awoke every day looking forward to his greatest joy - beekeeping! His cheerful smile and many stories will be treasured memories for his many friends and acquaintances. Visitations at the Boyce Funeral Home, 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. Friends may pay their respects on Friday, September 3 from 2 - 4 p.m., 7 - 9 p.m. and after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Funeral service on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in The Boyce Chapel followed by reception and interment at Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte.

Henry married Grace Jean MacEachern. Grace was born on 14 May 1918 in Toronto, York County, Ontario, Canada; died on 14 Sep 1995 in Arnprior, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

In Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 14, 1995, Grace Toop, of R.R. 1, Arnprior, Ontario, in her 78th year. Beloved wife of Harry Toop. Dear mother of Judy Toop or Auburn, Washington, Janet (Jerry) Kindopp of Red Deer, Alberta, Cheryl (Nick) Theodoru of Toronto. Catherine (Larry) Kositsin of Bakersfield, California and Deborah (Larry) Ivany of Calgary, Alberta. Dear sister of Sam MacEachern of Arnprior. Survived by 6 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. Resting at the Boyce Funeral Home Ltd, 138 Daniel Street, N, Arnprior, for visitations on Sunday, 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., thence to the Seventh- Day Adventist Church, 117 Victoria Street, Carleton Place, Ontario, on Monday September 18, 1995, for funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Manuel Silva officiating. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte, Ontario.

Charles Gordon Toop
Funeral services were held from the Comba Funeral Home, Almonte, on Wednesday, Dec. 15th, for the late Charles Gordon Toop, life-long resident of Ramsay. Mr. Toop was born at Almonte, Ont., on Sept 22nd, 1880, son of the late Frederick Sydney Toop and his wife Rachel Hynes. On Oct. 30th 1912, he married the former Margaret Doucett of Ramsay, who survives. Also surviving are seven sons: Arthur of Carleton Place. Frederick of Ramsay, Harry of Arnprior, William of Carleton Place, Albert of the R.C.A.F., London, Ont.; Ewen of the R.C.A.F., Calgary, Alta and Aylmer of Ramsay; two daughters, Mrs Levi Gimble (Mary), of Los Angles, Calif., and Mrs Lynn Goyne (Maybeth) of Yakima, Washington. One daughter, Dorothy predeceased him in March 1935. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Elder Hill of Ottawa. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The pallbearers were: John A. McArton, George Hilliard, Alex Munro, Norman Paul, Melville Paul and Cecil More.

Charles married Margaret Matilda Doucett in 1912. Margaret (daughter of Joseph Doucett and Martha Matilda Irwin) was born on 29 Apr 1893 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 5 Aug 1969 in Carleton Place, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Mrs. Margaret Toop Dies - 76 Years
Relatives, friends and neighbours paid final tribute to the memory of Mrs. Margaret Matilda Toop at her funeral which took place on Wednesday, August 7, 1969, from the Fleming Bros. Funeral Home, Lake Ave. west, where Pastor Russell Spangler conducted the service at 2 p.m. Interment was in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte, Ont. Mrs. Toop passed away at the Stonehaven Nursing Home on Monday, August 5th, at the age of 76 years. Born in Ramsay Township, April 29, 1893, the former Margaret Matilda Doucett, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Doucett and his wife, the late Martha Irwin. She was educated at McCreary's School and attended the Almonte Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was married in Carleton Place to the late Charles Gordon Toop, who predeceased her some years ago. She is survived by seven sons, Arthur, Fred and Aylmer of Carleton Place; Ewen, Ottawa; Harry, Arnprior; William, Pembroke, and Albert, Clinton, Ont.; two daughters, Mary (Mrs. L. Gimbel) of Brunswick, Maine and Maybeth (Mrs. L. Goyne) Olympia, Wash.; a brother George Doucett of Carleton Place and a sister, Mrs. Annie Wiggins, Oshawa, Ont. The pallbearers were Messrs. Norman Paul, Alan Thompson, George Hilliard, Allan Doucett, Murray McRae and Stanley Brunton.

Frederick Sydney Toop
One of the oldest residents of Almonte passed away on Saturday, February 12, in the person of Mr Frederick Sydney Toop at the age of 90 years. The late Mr Toop was the son of William Toop and Elizabeth Eyers of Marsh, Wiltshire, England. He was married to Miss Rachel Sarah Haines at Westborough, in Wiltshire, in 1857 and if he had lived they intended celebrating the seventieth anniversary of their marriage on the 1st of July on the occasion of their sixty ninth anniversary they received a letter of congratulation from King George. They have resided in Almonte for 54 years with the exception of a year or two spent in Cornwall, in the home which Mr Toop built in the New England section on Christine street. Mr Toop was sick only a short time and his passing came as a shock to his friends. Besides his widow, who is 87 years old. he leaves to mourn his loss four sons and three daughters, namely William and Augustus of Almonte; Gordon of Ramsay and Percy, of Edmonton Alta; Nellie, Mrs Robt. Lees, of Moose Jaw; Lillie, Mrs Wm Hamilton, of Regina; Minnie, Mrs Wm. More of Ramsay; all of whom were present at the funeral. Arthur died about 23 years ago and two children in infancy He is also survived by 45 grandchildren and 36 great grand children. The funeral on Tuesday, which was largely attended was conducted by his pastor, Rev A.C. Dixon, of the Baptist Church of which deceased was the oldest member, assisted by Rev E.P.H. King, a former minister, now of Arnprior. Rev J.M. Rutherford and Rev J.R. MacCrimmon. Interment was made at the Auld Kirk Cemetery vault. The pallbearers were his four sons: Messrs William, Augustus, Gordon, Percy and a son-in-law Mr More also Mr Wm Simpson. Mrs Toop will live with her son, Mr Augustus Toop.

Frederick married Rachel Sarah Haynes in 1857. Rachel was born on 17 Jul 1840 in Wiltshire Unitary Authority, Wiltshire, England; died on 20 Oct 1931 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Mrs Frederick S. Toop
Death claimed another well-known and highly respected resident of this district in the person of Mrs Frederick S. Toop, who passed away at the home of her son, Mr William H. Toop, New England, on Tuesday of this week. Deceased whose maiden name was Rachael Sarah Haines, was born at Wiltshire, England, on July 17th, 1840. She was married in that place on July 1st, 1857 to Mr Frederick S. Toop, who predeceased her in February, 1927. The family come to Canada in 1872 and took up residence in Almonte, where she had spent the remainder of her life. Left to mourn the loss of a loving mother are seven children: ? William H., of town; Mrs W.R. More, Ramsay; Mrs W.H. Hamilton, Regina; Mrs Robt Lees, Moose Jaw; Augustus, town; Percy, Edmonton, and Gordon in Ramsay. Two children died in infancy and Arthur E., in Ramsay, in 1904. She lived to see the children of the fourth generation and leaves 46 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The funeral took place from the residence of her son, Mr William Toop on Thursday. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery.
