Eric W. (Ging) Houston
Eric W (Ging) Houston died June 2 in Almonte General Hospital after an illness of two weeks. He was 54. Mr Houston leaves behind his wife Rita Young, whom he married in Almonte on Nov 2, 1953. He is also survived by his mother, Mabel. The Almonte native was born Jan 27, 1928, and after receiving his education in Almonte, worked as a laboratory technician at Almonte Dairy Products until its closing. Mr Houston was a member of the Mississippi Lodge AF and AM No 147, and also a member of the Granite Chapter of Royal Arch Masons No 61 GBC. He also belonged to the congregation of the United Church in town. Also surviving Mr Houston is a brother, Gary of Almonte, as well as aunts, Peryl of Almonte, Mrs Russell Clarke (Corinne) of Toronto, Francis, May and Margaret also of Almonte. Two uncles, George and Des of Almonte, also survive Mr Houston, as does his grandfather Orville. Mr Houston will also be remembered as the dear uncle of Sandra, Timmy and Mike. The funeral service was held at Gamble & Comba Funeral Home at 2 p.m, June 4. Mr Houston was buried in the Auld Kirk Cemetery with Rev Mitchell of Carleton Place officiating. Pallbearers were Ray Spinks, Eric Julian, George Tosh, Don Smith, Mike Vaughan and Willard McDougall.

Rita (daughter of Mathew Robert "Hube" Young and Birdie Rita McCulloch) was born in 1929; died on 11 Mar 1988 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. HOUSTON ? Suddenly at his residence, 30 Main St., Almonte, on Sunday, October 31st, 1971, Alan Houston. Beloved husband of Mabel Lang and dear father of Eric Gary, Almonte. Dear brother of Gertrude (Mrs Arthur Warren), Shelburne, Ont.; Peryl Houston, Almonte; and Corinne (Mrs Russell Clark), Toronto, survived by three grandchildren. In his 68th year. Rested at the Comba Funeral Home, Church street, Almonte, where service was held Wednesday, November 3rd, at 2 p.m. Rev R.J. McCrea, B.Th., officiating. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.

Allan married Mabel Alice Lang in 1927. Mabel (daughter of Matthew Lang and Catherine Mary McDonald) was born in 1908; died on 5 Aug 1986 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Suddenly in hospital at Almonte on Tuesday, August 5, 1986, Mabel A. Lang of Almonte, age 77 years. Beloved wife of the late Alan Houston and dear mother of Gary of Almonte. Predeceased by 1 son Eric. Sister of Mrs George Larocque (Frances) and Des Giles, both of Almonte. Predeceased by 1 sister, Margaret Gilmour. Loved grandmother of Sandra, Tim and Mike. Friends may call at the Gamble & Comba Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, Almonte, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Matthew Lang died in the General Protestant hospital, Ottawa and the remains were brought to Almonte on the afternoon local at three o'clock today, Thursday. He was operated upon at the hospital here some time ago, but further surgical treatment being necessary he was taken to Ottawa, but nothing could be done to save his life. He was married and his wife and two small children survive him

Mrs Orville W. Giles
Funeral services for the late Mrs Orville W. Giles who passed away on Saturday, Sept. 18th, 1965, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital were held on Tuesday, Sept 21st, 1965, at St. Mary's Church for Requiem High Mass at 9 a.m. by Father French. Born in Corkery, she was the former Catherine McDonald, daughter of the late Hugh McDonald and his wife Margaret O'Connor. Besides her husband, she had left to mourn, one son, Desmond, a daughter, Frances (Mrs George Larocque); also by a previous marriage to the late Matthew Lang, two daughters, Mabel (Mrs Alan Houston) and Margaret (Mrs Charles Gilmour); also one brother Alex McDonald of Quyon, Que., and two sisters, Margaret and Anna of Fort Erie, Ont.; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Three brothers John, Hugh and Leo, are deceased. The pallbearers were Ernie Halliday of Carleton Place, Bert Simpson, Alex Spinks, James Majaury, Lloyd Giles and Andrew Meehan. Burial was in the Auld Kirk. Testifying to high esteem, among the beautiful floral offerings were those from the C.P.R., Almonte Dairy Products, Almonte Dairy Products Employees' Club, I.G.A. staff, Grenville Castings Ltd., Merrickville, Ont., and Stedman staff.
