    Ferd and Gertrude were married on Feb 9, 1948 and lived in Faribault throughout their marriage. He was a dedicated farmer for 37 years before retiring. Ferd & Trudy then spent winters in McAllen, Texas where he died.

    After Ferd passed away, Trudy sold part of the farm to Rice County. A 60 acre parcel of this land was developed and dedicated to Ferdinand as "Caron Park". It is complete with a sheltered picnic area, hiking trails and a stream flowing though the woods - a wonderful nature study area.

    Ferdinand married Gertrude Mildred "Trudy" Awe on 9 Feb 1948.     CARON GERTRUDE FARIBAULT DAILY NEWS 04/AUG/2006 FARIBAULT -

    - Gertrude "Trudy" Caron, age 80, of Faribault, died suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at the District One Hospital in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. from the Divine Mercy Catholic Church at Sacred Heart in Faribault, with Fr. Michael Izen, associate pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Gertrude Mildred Awe, the daughter of Emil and Amy (James) Awe, was born on Aug. 7, 1925, in Loretto, Minn., and graduated from Elk River High School. She was a teacher at a country school in Cannon City Township, Rice County, for three years before her marriage to Ferdinand Caron on Feb. 9, 1948, at the Sacred Heart Church in Faribault. She farmed with her husband in Cannon City Township before she graduated from Mankato State University in 1965 with a bachelor's degree in special education. She was a teacher at the State Schools for mentally impaired for three years and Faribault Public Schools for nine years. Ferdinand preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1985. Trudy loved to paint, sing in the church choir, and traveled throughout the world. She also started up a Catholic singles group following her husband's death. She is survived by four children, Kathy Moes of Farmington, Gary Caron of Faribault, Michele (and David) Holmblad of Faribault, and Debbie (and Maurice) Jorgenson of Bolchow, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jessie Stam (and Peter Brinkman), John Christopher Moes, E7, Justin Stam, Lt. Patrick Nathaniel Moes, Randy (and Amy) Caron, Andrew Caron, Nathan Caron, and Brent Jorgenson; great-grandson, Hunter Brinkman; sister, Marlene (and Al) Edin of Ham Lake; brother-in-law, Carl Bauer of Monticello; two sisters-in-law, Mavis Caron and Geraldine Caron, both of Faribault; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Matthew Caron; and sister, Harriet Bauer.

    Born in Rockford Township. He was baptized 25 Aug 1895 at the Pelican Lake, Immual Lutheran Church, Buffalo, MN. He was confirmed 9 Jun 1912 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Buffalo, MN.

    Emil's father died when he was nine years old and he was orphaned at age 12 when his mother, Bertha, left the Silver Creek home leaving him to care for a younger brother and sister. He never heard from his mother again. Emil stayed some time at the home of his Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Herman (Biegler). He worked on their farm and was allowed to go to school only in the winter. He completed about 3 years of middle school.
    Emil was very talented in music and taught himself to play the violin.

    He worked in Minot, ND at age 15 for a farmer, then lived with Aunt Lotte (Charlotte), and worked for Henry James as a farm hand. Amy was a daughter of Henry's, and soon they fell in love and were engaged to be married.

    During WWI, Emil was called into the service. He went to Chicamaga, Georgia where he was classified a 4-F and thus he returned to Minnesota.

    He continued to farm throughout Wright County, until he eventually sold the farm and moved to the home in Monticello on 4th street. Here he tended a huge garden of vegetables and flowers, fished with his good friend Alfred Carlson, and attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church faithfully.

    In Jan. 1974 Emil lost his wife, Amy, of more than 50 years.

    Emil married Amy Jane James in 1919. Amy (daughter of Henry Nathaniel James and Harriet Eva Schultz) was born on 8 Dec 1900 in Monticello, Wright County, Minnesota, United States; died on 30 Jan 1974 in Monticello, Wright County, Minnesota, United States; was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Monticello, Wright County, Minnesota, United States.
