    Peacefully at home, with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the age of 88 years.

    Beloved husband of Lois (nee McNeely) for 63 years. Dearly loved father of Glenn, Sheila and Steven (Sue). Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Samantha and Brody James. Dear brother of Blanche Dezell (late Ross), May East (David) and Irene Baldock (late Ernest). Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by brothers Russell, Robert and parents William T. and Florence James.

    He will be remembered as an enthusiastic Hereford breeder and cattleman. Mack is on the honour roll for the Canadian Hereford Association.

    Friends may call at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place on Thursday, July 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

    Funeral Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church on Friday July 5 at 11 a.m.

    Interment St. James Parish Cemetery.

    McNEELY
    Arthur Ernest McNeely passed away at hospital in Carleton Place June 27, 1976, after a short illness in his 82nd year. He was born in Ramsay Township on November 25, 1894, the son of the late William McNeely and his wife Agnes Isobella Goth. He received his education at S S No 8 Public School and Carleton Place High School. He operated a farm on the 7th line Ramsay until he retired in 1953 when he moved to Carleton Place. On June 5th, 1928 he married Marjorie Estella Lyons, New Boyne. He is survived by his wife, one daughter Lois A (Mrs Mack James) R R 3, Carleton Place and one son Douglas J, Agincourt, Ont. One stepsister Hannah (Mrs H McArton, RN) and six grandchildren Glenn, Sheila and Steven James, Jeffrey, Jonathan and James McNeely. A sister, Ethal (Mrs Percy Leach) died previously. The funeral service was held in St James Anglican Church June 30 at 2.30 pm with interment in United Cemeteries. The pallbearers were Howard McNeely, Bill Rintoul, Gary Postma, Allan Doucett, David Henry and Donald Wills.

    W.J. McNeely Paid Final Tribute
    One of the community's best known residents, Mr William James McNeely, died at his home on Victoria street, Wednesday, October 19th, 1955, following a prolong illness. Mr McNeely had not enjoyed good health for the past six years, but was never confined to bed steadily until two weeks before he passed quietly away. Born in Beckwith township, August 7, 1864, he was a son of the late John McNeely and his wife, Matilda Drummond, and received his education in Carleton Place. Mr McNeely resided in Beckwith township until 1889 when he moved to Ramsay township, where he farmed successfully for many years on the eighth line. On January 31st, 1894, he was married to the former Agnes Isabella Goth in Beckwith township, and to the union were born, one son, Mr Arthur E. McNeely of Carleton Place, formerly of Ramsay township, and one daughter, (Ethel I.) Mrs Percy Leach of Beckwith, both of whom survive. Mrs McNeely predeceased him in 1916 Mr McNeely remarried in 1930, his second wife being Mrs Ernest (Pheobe) Houston Turner, who survives. During his long years of residence in the township of Ramsay deceased took an active part in its welfare and served as a school trustee and as secretary-treasurer of School Section No. 8 for many years. In 1953, Mr McNeely moved to Carleton Place, where he remained. He was a devoted member of St James' Anglican church and attended regularly when his health permitted. In addition to his wife, son and daughter, he is also survived by one step-son, Mr Alex Turner, Department of Agriculture, Ottawa, and one step-daughter, Mrs Harry (Hannah) McArton, Reg Nurse, and assistant supervisor of Rosamond Memorial Hospital, Almonte; also three grandchildren, Mrs Mac James (Lois McNeely), Ramsay; Miss Evelyn Leach, Beckwith, and Mr Douglas McNeely, with the Department of Highways at White River, and one great grandson, Glenn James, Ramsay. Largely attended by friends and relatives the funeral took place from Fleming Bros Funeral Home, Lake avenue west, Friday afternoon to St James Anglican Church where service was conducted by Rev D.F. Weegar, Interment was made at Pine Grove cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs Charles McGregor, George Cox, George H. Doucett, Harry Young, John Cram and Harry Willis. Numerous beautiful floral tributes were received mute evidence of the high esteem to which Mr McNeely was held. Out-of-town friends attending the funeral were from Portland, Smiths Falls, Ramsay, Franktown, Ottawa, and surrounding districts.

    Death of Mrs W.J. McNeely
    The death of Mrs William J. McNeely, of Ramsay, which occurred early last Friday morning, came as a surprise to her many friends hereabouts. The deceased lady was 46 years of age. Before her marriage 22 years ago she was Agnes Isabella Goth, daughter of the late Wm Goth, of Beckwith. She was very highly esteemed by a large circle of friends who deeply lament her demise. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon to St James Church, and thence to Pine Grove Cemetery, to the family burial plot. The service was conducted by Rev Canon Elliott. The pallbearers were Messrs. D.R. McNeely, Alfred McNeely, Russell McNeely, G.T. Chapman, John Cunningham, and Herb Morphy. One son and one daughter survive who with the bereaved husband have the deepest sympathy in their sorrow.
