    Alice R. Clawson, 86, Topeka, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at a Topeka nursinghome.

    She was born Sept. 27, 1912, in Lawrence, the daughter of Carl and Gladys Morgan Rerick. She was reared in Lawrence and attended the University of Kansas. She lived in Linwood for 40 years before she moved to Topeka about 20 years ago.

    Mrs. Clawson was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a volunteer for Friendly Visitors at the church. She also raised and showed African Violets.

    She married Arden Clawson on Feb. 25, 1934, in Lawrence. He died Dec. 20, 1981.

    Survivors include a daughter, Janice Coffee, Manhattan; a son, Eldon Clawson, Wakarusa; and seven grandchildren.

    Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.

    Mrs. Clawson will lie in state after noon today at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 9 p.m.

    Stroke of Paralysis Was Fatal to Old Settler.

    Mrs. Minnie Elizabeth Rarick died this morning about 7 o'clock at the home of her son, Carl Rarick, 515 Ohio street. Mrs. Rarick was stricken with paralysis yesterday at her home on south Kentucky street and was taken to the home of her son yesterday afternoon.
    Mrs. Rarick was born in Ohio in 1844. She had lived in Lawrence and Douglas county ever since the Civil War. She is survived by one son, Carl, and one daughter, Mrs. Edith H. Johnson of Tacoma, Washington.
    The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon from the son's home. Rev. H. E. Wolfe will officiate. Interment will be in the family lot in Oak hill cemetery.
