    (Medical):The two cars, one driven by Mr Duncan, with Joseph Lodge, of Almonte, as a passenger, collided with a car driven by Austin Lloyd, of Carleton Place, with Mrs Lloyd and a hitch-hiking soldier, Fred Pound, of Petawawa, as the other occupants. Mrs Lloyd, the former Mary Anderson, was killed instantly, while Joseph Lodge was seriously injured and is at present a patient in the Civic hospital at Ottawa. Lloyd and Pound were also injured, but not seriously. Lloyd is still in the hospital here, under surveillance of the police, who have laid a charge of dangerous driving against him. Private Pound has been removed to military hospital at Kingston.

    Bennet Duncan Dies As Result Of Car Crash
    Never Regained Consciousness Following Collision
    on Almonte Road on Monday Evening of Last Week
    Almonte, Ont 30 ? Bennett Duncan, seriously injured in a two-car smash-up last Monday night, died in the Rosamond Memorial hospital here tonight, never having regained consciousness from the time of the collision. Mr Bennett's death is the second as the result of the accident, Mrs Austin Lloyd, of Carleton Place, being killed instantly at the time of the crash. The motor accident, the worst of the 1941 season in this district, occurred about 6.30 Monday evening on Highway about three miles from Almonte. The two cars, one driven by Mr Duncan, with Joseph Lodge, of Almonte, as a passenger, collided with a car driven by Austin Lloyd, of Carleton Place, with Mrs Lloyd and a hitch-hiking soldier, Fred Pound, of Petawawa, as the other occupants. Mrs Lloyd, the former Mary Anderson, was killed instantly, while Joseph Lodge was seriously injured and is at present a patient in the Civic hospital at Ottawa. Private Pound has been removed to military hospital at Kingston. The late Mr Duncan was widely known in Almonte and his passing has shocked the entire town. Born in Ramsay, 44 years ago, he was a son of the late Sidney Duncan and his wife, Emily Bennett. He was married to Miss Myrtle Bennett, who survives in addition to two daughters, Mrs Kenneth Kirk and Miss Dorothy, both of Almonte. A sister, Mrs E. McPherson, Lakewood, N.J.; a halfbrother, Albert Duncan, and his step-mother, both of Carleton Place, also survive. He was a member of the Almonte Presbyterian church. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock from his late residence to the Auld Kirk cemetery for interment. Rev A.J. Fowlie will conduct the services. Editor's Note ? The later Mr Duncan was well known in Carleton Place where he was employed as mechanic with Mr H.D. Dulmage in his garage on Bell street and was highly esteemed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was courteous and obliging at his place of employment and made a host of friends who mourn his passing.

    MYRTLE M. DUNCAN
    Following a lengthy illness, the death of Mrs. Myrtle M. Duncan of Almonte occurred at the Almonte hospital on Saturday, February 25, 1978. She was 82. Born at White Lake, Ontario, on December 9, 1895, she was a daughter of the late Robert Bennett and his wife, Margaret Jane Ross. She received her education at White Lake. She was married at Carleton Place in 1919 to the late Bennett Duncan. Mrs. Duncan was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church. She was a life member of St. John's Presbyterian Heather Club and a life member of the W.M.S. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ken Kirk (Emeline) of Hollywood, Florida, and Mrs. Gerald Townend (Dorothy) of Carleton Place; a brother Gilbert Bennett of White Lake; and sisters, Mrs. Reta McLaren, Mrs. Clara Blakeley and Mrs. Sadie McDougall, all of Almonte, and Mrs. Ernest Yuill (Roberta) of Waba. Also surviving are four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The funeral was held from the Gamble & Comba Funeral Home to St. John's Presbyterian Church at 12.30 on Monday, February 27, to lie in state until 2 o'clock, when service was conducted by Rev. Ed Smith. Burial will be made in Auld Kirk Cemetery in the spring. Pallbearers were Carl Townend, Bob Townend, Mike Berry, Steve Gilmour, Lyle McLaren and Stuart McDougall.
