    Fred was born 30 January 1917 in the Esk, Saskatchewan area. His parents were Albert and Martha (Wildeman) Podjan who were farmers in the Esk district. He had a brother, Albert Jr, and a sister, Martha. His father died in March 1918 when Fred was one year old. His mother married Henry Brenner. Fred went to work in the mines and other jobs in Ontario during the 1930's. He then returned to Saskatchewan and worked for the CPR until he could start his own farm. He married Ethel Leggott in the fall of 1941. They farmed north of Esk and raised a daughter and a son. They retired in Langian and spent their last years in Central Parkland Lodge in Lanigan. Fred died in February 2003 and was buried in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Lanigan.

    Frederick married Ethel Mary Leggott in 1941. Ethel (daughter of Thomas William Leggott and Annie Eliza Clark) was born on 20 Jul 1917 in Lanigan, Saskatoon Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada; died on 7 Jan 2010 in Lanigan, Saskatoon Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada; was buried in 2010 in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Lanigan, Saskatoon Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada.
