(Robbie) Aguilar of Phoenix and Jennifer K. (Tim) Butler of Hollywood, CA; her grandson, Alexander Socrates Aguilar of Phoenix, as well as many extended family members and loving friends. A resident of Tucson for 26 years, Karen was born in Palo Alto, CA July 6, 1941, the daughter of Kathleen Kidd Kerr and Norman Stanley Kerr. Karen grew up in San Francisco and spent her teen years in Hawaii and Puerto Rico. She graduated from Robinson High School in Santurce, Puerto Rico, in 1959. In the early 1960's she attended the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and where she met her husband, Michael. Karen and Michael started their family in New York City and made homes in Syracuse, NY, Gettysburg, PA and Harrisburg, PA, before settling in Tucson in 1977. Karen was an active member of both The League of Women Voters and The Junior League in Harrisburg, PA. For the last 15 years Karen worked in the Accounting Department of the Tucson Association of Realtors. A Memorial Service will not be held. In lieu of flowers you may make donations to the American Cancer Society.

    The following information regarding the naming of the Mount Kidd Peak was received from John Kidd in correspondence received on 2011-08-04.

    John's father was Fred Kidd and Stuart Kidd was John's grandfather. Stuart Kidd had a brother named Fred Kidd.
    John was told by his father that the mountain was named after his uncle, Fred Kidd.

    Born near Ashton, Ontario, Fred Kidd homesteaded north of Calgary on the west branch of Nose Creek. According to his son, Fred could not resist the attraction of the mountains and so moved to Morley in 1907 where he operated the Scott and Leeson Trading Post and served as the Justice of the Peace. Part of his job was outfitting survey parties which worked in the Kananaskis Valley area. One of these was led by a geologist, D. Bogart Dowling (see Mount Bogart), who chose Kidd''s name for the mountain.

    John Kidd's father spent four years in politics and it was during this time that the idea that Mount Kidd be named to honour his uncle Fred Kidd arose.
