    District people suffered a shock Wednesday on receiving news of the death of Frederick Ralph LaFountain, better known over a vast district and to many friends as Fred LaFountain. Mr. LaFountain was attending to his duties at the Saskatchewan Pool elevator Tuesday and suffered an apoplectic stroke from which he never regained consciousness until his death Wednesday. He was born in Coleman, S.D., Feb. 28, 1885. For a short time he worked with the Great Northern Railway as trainman and came to Canada in 1908. homesteading in the Keeler district where he married Alma Fu-merton. From this union two children were born. Dorothy and Lloyd. Mrs. LaFountain died in 1912 and he returned to U.S.A. In 1914 he married Minnie C. Weyer and he and his wife returned to Canada in 1915, homesteading in the Meyronne district until he was appointed agent for Ogilvie elevator in 1917 where he remained until 1921. He went to the Pioneer elevator in 1923. He entered a partnership in an independent elevator with Rube Led-iey, this being given up in 1925, and he went to the Reliance Grain Co. and was their agent until coming to McCord for the Saskatchewan Pool elevators in 1929. He acted in this capacity and farmed until his death. His host of friends paid their last respects at the funeral. Besides his wife, Mr. LaFountain leaves five daughters, Mrs. H. Anderson, Mrs. Arthur Peterson, Regina; Mrs. Walter Payne, j Medicine Hat; Catherine and Una at home: three sons, Lloyd of Glentworth; Ralph and Lewis at home; two sisters, Mrs. Ina Judd, Walla Walla, Wash., and Miss Co-lema LaFountain, Lebanon, Ore.; four brothers, Chester of St. Paul, Minn.; Walter, Lloyd and Dale of Portland, Ore.

    Frederich married Alma Jessie Fumerton on 1 Jul 1910 in Keeler, Moose Jaw Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada. Alma (daughter of Archibald Whyte "Archie" Fumerton and Jennie Loman Robb) was born on 19 Mar 1878 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 15 Nov 1913 in Keeler, Moose Jaw Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada.
