Margaret Buchanan was baptized July 4th, 1804 at the Parish of St. Andrew's & St. Leonards in Fifeshire, Scotland to Rev. George Buchanan and Ann Aitkin.

Family/Spouse: John Dewar. John (son of Archibald C. Dewar and Margaret Gow Ferguson) was born in 1796; was christened on 20 Mar 1796 in Comrie, Perth and Kinross, Perthshire, Scotland; died on 4 Feb 1890; was buried in South Plymton Presbyterian Cemetery, Lambton County, Ontario, Canada. "Obituary. Died at this residence, in Beckwith, U. C. on the 12th of September, the Reverend Doctor Buchanan, in the 74th year of his age, and 45th of his Ministry. His sufferings previous to his death which were long and painful, he bore with great patience and christian resignation to the will of his heavenly Father. By his death the church has lost an eminent Presbyterian Minister - his wife, an affectionate husband - and his family, an indulgent parent. He was indeed a faithful servant of Christ, and has left a widow and nine children to lament his loss."

The youngest son of Donald Buchanan and his second wife Catherine Menzies he was born at Coupar Angus in 1761. He studied medicine and for the church at Edinburgh University.

George married Ann Aitken. Ann was born in 1776 in Scotland; died on 14 Jan 1849 in Vankleek Hill, Prescott and Russell Counties, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Vankleek Hill, Prescott County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
