After a short illness, Garnet James Rodger peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 8th, 1976, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Son of James Roy Rodger, and the former Gladys Seabrooke, he was born at Almonte on July 20th, 1943. He attended Church Street Public School, and Almonte and District High School. On August 22nd, 1968, he was married in the Presbyterian Church to the former Jacquelone Gagner, who survives. He was the devoted father of twin boys, Garnet and Gordon, and one daughter, Sarah, at home. He was employed as electronic technician at Leigh Instruments, Carleton Place, for a period of 13 years, where he acquired many friends. Since his marriage, he had resided in the village of Blakeney, and was highly regarded as a good friend and neighbour. Also left to mourn are his parents, two sisters, Mrs Eileen McNeely, Almonte, and Mrs Phyllis Haskins, Easton's Corners, and two brothers, Kenneth and Ernest, at home. He was buried at Auld Kirk Cemetery, on Saturday, September 11th, 1976, Rev P. Rumball officiating. Pallbearers were Leonard McNeely, Jack Wilson, Horst Fallak, Wayne Moore, Cecil Barden, and Robert Andrews.

In hospital at Almonte on Thursday, January 27, 2000. Roy Rodger of Almonte, age 91 years. Beloved husband for 57 years of Gladys Seabrooke. Much loved dad of Eileen McNeely of Almonte, Phyllis Haskins (Randy) of Smiths Falls, Ken (Fran) and Ernie both of Almonte. Predeceased by his son Garnet, brother Mac and 2 sisters Ella and Annie. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. Friends called at the C.R. GAMBLE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 127 Church Street, Almonte for visiting on Friday. A complete Service including committal was held in the Chapel on Saturday. Rev. Jim Ferrier officiated. Spring interment Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte.

James married Gladys Elsie Seabrook in 1943. Gladys was born in 1921; died on 31 Mar 2008 in Ottawa, Ottawa Municipality, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Suddenly in hospital at Ottawa on Monday, March 31, 2008. Gladys Seabrook of Almonte, age 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Roy Rodger. Dear mother of Eileen McNeely of Almonte, Phyllis Haskins (Randy) of Smiths Falls, Ken (Fran) and Ernest (Nancy) both of Almonte. Sister of Garnet Seabrook. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her son Garnet, an infant daughter; Gladys and her brother Ernest. Friends may call at the C. R. GAMBLE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 127 Church Street, Almonte. for visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and from 10 am Thursday until the Service, complete in the Chapel at 11 am, Rev. The funeral service was held at the Comba Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, March 1st, at one p.m., of James Miller Rodger who died at his residence, Country Street, on Sunday, Feb 27th, in his 69th year. Mr Rodger had been in ill health for the past two years. James Miller Rodger was born at Middleville in 1886, a son of the late James Rodger and his wife, Ellen Miller. He was married 47 years ago to the former Miss Harriett McKay of Galbraith who survives together with two sons and two daughters, namely: Thomas Mckay (Mac) and Roy of Almonte; Ella (Mrs Wm Andrews) and (Annie) Mrs David Andrews both of Almonte. There is also a brother, William of Almonte; three sisters, Jessie, Mrs Chas Ramsbottom of Smiths Falls; Eva, Mrs Wm Rintoul of Innisville; Edna, Mrs Wm Woods of Lanark, and nine grandchildren. Mr Rodger was a farmer nearly all his life. First, as a young man he farmed in the Galbraith section and later on the 9th line of Ramsay Township where Mr John Brydges now lives and until he retired eleven years ago, on the farm occupied by his son, Roy, on the 9th line. The Rev Jas M. Ritchie of Almonte Presbyterian Church officiated and the remains were placed in the Auld Kirk Cemetery vault. The pallbearers were Messrs W.A. Metcalfe, Jas Metcalfe, John R. Reid, Ernest Robertson, Lloyd Watson and Lester Jamieson. Among the beautiful floral tributes were wreaths from Metcalfe's Dairy; M.P. Coderre and Metcalfe's Construction.

James married Harriet "Hattie" McKay in 1908. Harriet (daughter of Thomas McKay and Annie Rintoul) was born on 16 Oct 1887 in Halls Mills, Darling Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 5 Dec 1967 in Almonte, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. The death of Mrs Harriett (Hattie) Rodger occurred at the Drynan Nursing Home, Almonte, on Tuesday December 5th, in her 82nd year. She had been a resident of the nursing home for ten years. Previously Mrs Rodger resided on Country street. Mrs Rodger was born at Hall's Mills on October 5th, 1886, a daughter of Thomas McKay and Annie Rintoul. She was married in March, 1908, at Middleville, to the late James M. Rodger. She was a member of Almonte Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one son, Roy, and a daughter, Annie, Mrs David Andrews, both of Almonte; two brothers, Welland and Charles McKay, and two sisters, Mrs John R. Reid and Mrs William Mealy of Brandon, Manitoba. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church street, at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 8th, with burial at Auld Kirk Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev William Baird of Almonte Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers were Lloyd Watson, Lester Jamieson, James Rodger, Wilbert McKay, Garnet Rodger and Robert Andrews.
