William Henry Code was born 12 Jan 1849 to John Code/Codd and Maritta/Marietta Seeley. William married Elizabeth Stewart on 3 April 1873 in Beckwith, Ontario. The couple had seven children, three of whom died in infancy.
William's careers included labourer, merchant, and rooming house propietor. The family moved to Vancouver about 1908. Son, Howard Code had died the same year.
William and Elizabeth celebrated their 50th anniversary, 3 April 1923, at their home in Burnaby,BC. Attendees included son, Lorne Code and family; son Stewart Code; son, Eldon S Code and family (of Seattle); and members of the Ladies Aid Society of the Vancouver Heights Presbyterian Church. Granddaughters Hazel Code and Vivian Code performed Highland dancing for the event.
William died in 1928 in Vancouver, and was survived by his 2 remaining sons, Lorne and Eldon.

Marietta Seeley was born 27 April 1825 to Abijah Seeley and Martha Willows in Elizabethtown, Ontario [now Brockville].
Marietta married John Code/Codd on 4 July 1844 in Bathurst, Lanark, Ontario. The couple were parents to 8 children. Marietta lived most of her life in the Lanark County area of Ontario, moving to the Vancouver area of B.C. in her last few years of life.

(Research):James and Isabella had a large family, and as their eldest child was born in Ontario in 1832, they must have emigrated soon after getting married. There exists a document dated 24th May 1836 from James Stewart to P. Robinson, York, indicating his willingness to purchase Concession 6, Lot 10NE in Beckwith. However as this was a Clergy Reserve he seems to have been unsuccessful and by 1852 the family are living at Concession 6, Lot 12A, which was later designated as Concession 6, Lot 11. They must have done well for themselves as James and his 7 children were farming 300 acres and living in a stone house rather than a log cabin, which was the norm for most of their neighbours. His neighbour on Concession 7, Lot 12 was James's nephew, Neil Stewart, the son of his sister Elizabeth.

James married Isobella Stewart on 11 Apr 1830. Isobella was born in 1807; died on 11 Sep 1892; was buried in Kennedy Cemetery, Beckwith Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
