    FOUR PLACES VACANT
Happy Homes Made Desolate By Death

Demise of Mrs. Lyons, Mrs. Frazer, Bennie Richards and Infant Potter.

Death's grim messenger summoned four beloved ones during the past week and brought to happy homes the sorrow of aching hearts mourning those who passed to the Great Beyond under circumstances peculiarly distressing. Two loved mothers and two adored children answered the call and left vacant chairs in the home circle where their lovable qualities had made them almost indispensable to the earthly welfare of those who had learned their true value in this life.

The passing of Mrs. Lyons and Mrs. Frazer left sons and daughters and husbands to a life of sorrow. The premature taking away of little Bennie Richards and the infant son of W. L. Potter have left voids which can never be filled.

    ?b?Mrs. H. A. Lyons?/b?

Sophia McCann Lyons was born in Muskingum county, Ohio, March 17, 1831; died on the home ranch near Colfax, Washington, April 6, aged 75 years and 21 days.

April 22, 1856 she was united in marriage to Hugh A. Lyons of Muskingum county, Ohio. Her husband survives her with pleasant memories of nearly 50 years of a happy life with his good wife, as it just lacked 16 days of their golden wedding anniversary.

Her two sons and four daughters, who were all together at the last, live to mourn her loss. They are: Sam Lyons of the Hubbard neighborhood; John A. Lyons of Colfax; Mrs. Mary E. Lommason of Clarkston, Wash.; Mrs. Jennie M. Fisher of Oakesdale, Wash.; Mrs. frances Blake of Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. Fannie H. TcTier of Los Angeles, Calif.

In early life Mrs. Lyons united with the Presbyterian church, severing that connect later to join the Christina church with others of her family. A good wife and mother, she lived her pure, clean, Christian life and went to her long last sleep with a faith that enabled her to say to one who sat at her beside, "Tis a blessed thought to know that Jesus can make a dying bed as soft as downy pillows."

Kind neighbors and friends gathered together with her family at the home where she had lived in their midst for 21 years and paid their last respects to whom they one and all lovingly called "Grandma Lyons."

The funeral services were held from the family home April 8, 1906, conducted by Rev. George H. Newman.
