    Thomas Wilbert McKay
    The sudden death of Thomas Wilbert McKay, occurred at his home, St George St., Almonte, on Saturday morning, October 17th, at the age of 59. Born at Middleville on July 21, 1911, he was the eldest son of Welland McKay and the late Nellie Rodger. He received his education at Middleville. Later moving to Ramsay, where he farmed, besides being Stationary Engineer at the Almonte Dairy, No 1 Mill, and for the last ten years was employed at the Collie Woollen Mill, Appleton. On September 30, 1936, in St George Church, Clayton, the late Mr McKay was married to Marjorie Poole, who survives his loss with three sons, George and Harold of Ottawa, and Arthur at home. Two daughters-in-law, Margaret and Janis, and a darling granddaughter, Krista Margaret, all of Ottawa. His father, one brother James and his uncle, Charlie McKay of Almonte, also survive. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 20. Burial was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Service was conducted by Rev L. Hughes of Arnprior. Honourary pallbearers were Messrs John Sutherland, M.R. Thompson, N.T. Sadler, Earle Currie, Ralph Sinnett, John Waddell and W.A. Metcalfe. Active pallbearers were Messrs Earl Cowan, John Mann, Don Thurston, Gordon Weir, Delmer Paterson and Ernest Giles. Flower-bearers were Ray Cowan, Bob Sadler, Ronnie McKay and Karl Mann.

    Robert McKay
    Robert Welland McKay died Dec 4, 1980 at the Almonte Nursing Home. Welland was the son of the late Thomas McKay and his wife Annie Rintoul. He was born in Lanark Township September 16, 1884. He received his education at Hall's Mills School, and Attended the Presbyterian Church in Middleville. On Wednesday May 4, 1910 Robert Welland McKay married the late Nellie Mabel Rodger daughter of the late Mr and Mrs J.H. Rodger of Middleville. The Rev A.D. Fraser officiated. Mr and Mrs McKay lived on their 300-acre farm across the road from his father's farm on the 7th line of Lanark, until March 1929 when they moved to the farm in Ramsay township. They retired in March 1952 and lived on St George Street, Almonte. After the death of his wife in February 21, 1961, his late brother Charles McKay came to live with him until May 24, 1974. Welland then moved to the Cowan Nursing, until November 17, 1976, when he moved to the Wilmart Nursing Home. On July 13, 1980 he came to reside in the new Almonte Nursing Home until his death. Welland was a faithful member of St John's Presbyterian Church, Almonte. He leaves a son, James Alexander McKay of Almonte, Ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. His oldest son, Thomas Wilbert McKay, died ten years ago, also his four brothers, and four sisters are deceased, namely John, Alexander, Thomas, and Charles McKay, sisters Margaret (Mrs J.R. Reid); Esther (Mrs Wm Mealy); Mary Ann (Mrs John Robertson) and Hattie (Mrs J.M. Rodger). The funeral was held on Saturday December 6 at 2:30 from the Gamble & Comba Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, thence to the Auld Kirk Cemetery for burial. Rev Edward Smith of St John's Presbyterian Church conducted the service. The pallbearers were his grandson's George Welland, Harold Thomas, Arthur Clare, Ronald Thomas, and John Robert McKay and Anthony Kennedy.

    Clara Jane (Meredith) Poole - (30 September, 1878 - 6 May, 1974)
    Clara Jane Poole passed peacefully away Monday, May 6, 1974, at the home of her daughter, Bernice, Mrs. Earl Cowan of Almonte.
    Mrs. Poole was the eldest daughter of the late Thomas Meredith and his wife, Mary Ann Johnston, and was born September 30, 1878, at Cedar Hill. On January 17, 1906, Clara Jane Meredith married the late George Timmins Poole of Pakenham Township, where they farmed until 1922, when they purchased the farm on the 7th line of Ramsay, known as the Steele Farm. Mrs. Poole was an Anglican, belonging to the Guild in St. George's Church, Clayton, for a number of years.
    Mrs. Poole leaves three daughters to mourn her loss, namely; Luella (Mrs. Stewart Paterson); Marjorie (Mrs. Wilbert McKay) , and Bernice (Mrs. Earl Cowan), all of Almonte, and mother to John Mann of Pakenham; and eight grandchildren. Three sisters also survive, Luella, Mrs. W. M. Griffth Oshawa; Archina, Mrs. E, N. Sadler, Haileybury, and Myrtle, Mrs. J. S. Pritchard, Arnprior. Deceased sisters are Loretta, Mrs. R. G. Tripp, Fitzroy Harbour; Lila, Mrs. H. J. Tripp, Arnprior; Roxena, Mrs. T. H. Kippen. White Lake, and Lena Meredith of Arnprior.
    Funeral service was held from the Comba, Funeral Home, 127 Church, St., Almonte, Ont., on Thursday, May 9, to St. Paul's Anglican Church, Almonte. Rev. G. F. Bickley held a short service at the funeral home singing a favourite hymn of the deceased, "Nearer My God to Thee." Service at the church was conducted by Rev. H. H. Brown of St. George's Church, Clayton and Rev. G. F. Bickley of St. Paul's Anglican Church. Hymns sung were "Rock of Ages" and "For All the Saints Who From Their Labours Rest."
    Interment took place in St. Mark's Cemetery, Pakenham. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Delmer G. S. Paterson, Allan J. Mann, Raymond J. Cowan, George W. McKay, Harold T. McKay and Arthur C. McKay.
