The death occurred in Ottawa on Friday last of Mrs John M. Halpenny, a former resident of Carleton Place, and her funeral took place on Monday afternoon from the residence of her daughter, Mrs W.R. Morrison. Rev Norman Coll, of Parkdale United Church, conducted the service, assisted by Rev H.E. Warren. The cortege proceeded to Auld Kirk cemetery, Almonte, where burial took place. Many floral pieces were received by the bereaved family, including tributes from the staff of the Privy Council office and machine shop employees of the J.R. Booth Limited. Mrs Halpenny was a sister of Mrs A.C. Dunlop, of Carleton Place, and the late Mrs D. Sutherland, Mrs H.R. Bowland is a niece.

Nancy married John Magill Halpenny in 1876. John was born on 19 Aug 1848 in Gloucester, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada; died on 1 Apr 1922 in Lloydminster, Lloydminster Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada; was buried on 3 Apr 1922 in Lloydminster Cemetery, Lloydminster, Lloydminster Census Division, Saskatchewan, Canada.
