    Their daughter, Ethel, was living with her father and his parents in 1871 and 1881 Albion, while Rebecca, noted as married, was living in Caledon Township with a Beatty family in 1871; not located in 1881.

    TOM KIDD DEAD
    On Friday afternoon all that was mortal of Thomas Kidd was laid to rest in St. John's cemetery, 7th Line, Mono. Tom Kidd was a well-known man in these parts for many years. He was a son of the late John Kidd, the old man who married Gertie Robbins over a decade ago. Tom Kidd was a very eccentric character and a couple of years ago he was adjudged insane and was sent to the Mimico asylum. While there he was a quiet patient. He imagined he was the owner of the asylum and all the other big buildings in sight and took great delight in showing visitors about his property. An only daughter died a few years ago.

    Thomas married Rebecca Hunter in 1870 in Caledon Township, Peel County, Ontario, Canada. Rebecca and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    If this Memorial was put up by his son John, it indicates Joseph died 3 to 4 years after he immigrated. John would have been 30 years old in the year his father Thomas died.

    The story of Joseph is thus:
    In 1798 Joseph was at the battle of Scullabogue in the Wexford uprising.

    In April 1824, Joseph, with his family, emigrated from Coolroe in Wexford County, Ireland. They sailed on the 'Maria', arriving in Quebec, Canada in August 1824.

    They lived near Athens in Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario during the winter of 1824-1825 then moved to Toronto in the spring of 1825. Then returned to Lansdowne Township in Leeds & Grenville County and settled on Concession 7, Lots 15-18.
    Joseph's occupation was a maker of beaver hats.

    Joseph married Anne POOLE in 1790 in Ferns Diocese, Ireland {born - 1771 at Gorey in Wexford County, Ireland died - 9 June 1861 at Claremont in Pickering Township}.
