-Again the Angel of death has visited Ramsay township and this time has claimed William Richard Madden, who passed away very peacefully at his home on Saturday evening at five o'clock. The deceased was the eldest son of the late Mr. John Madden, one of the pioneers of the township, who passed from our midst twenty-three years ago. William remained on the homestead.
Thirty-three years ago he married Miss. Margaret Powell, of Arnprior, and to them eight children were born; seven girls and one boy. who is the 'youngest. They are: Mrs. Wm. DiIIon, Braeside; Mrs. Frank O'Brien, Carleton Place; Margaret, Winnifred, Laura and William John, at home;Etta of the N. Bawlf Grain Exchange, Winnipeg, Man., and Maude, of the Pembroke public school. He Is survived by all these and his little niece. Marjorle, also three sisters, Mrs. Nicholas BawIf, Winnipeg, Man.; Mrs. Ellen Enright, Tacoma, Wash.and Mrs. Mary McKay, Seattle, Wash. His only brother, Timothy. of Grand Rapids, Mich., predeceased him thirteen years ago.
The late Mr. Madden was subject to paralytic strokes and had been ailing for about a year. The third one came upon him Wednesday afternoon and for three days he rallied "until the Golden gates were opened and a gentle voice said Come" He bore his, long suffering very patiently and his demise at the age of sixty-seven is mourned by all who Knew him, for he was a kind and loving husband and father, a true friend and a good neighbor. His funeral which was largely attended took place from his late residence, 12th line of Ramsay, to St. Mary's Roman Catholic church, Almonte, on Tuesday morning at eight o'clock, thence to the ninth line cemetery. The pallbearers were: Messrs James Galvin, Ed. Kennedy, Patrick Kelly, Wm. O'Brien, George O'Brien and Robert Powell.
Mrs. Madden and family have the deepest sympathy of all in their sad bereavement..
