    will observe their golden wedding anniversary quietly at their home on John street on Tuesday, January 31. Due to
    Mrs. Simpson being in indifferent health, the event will be quietly noted. Mr. Simpson, before his retirement from the
    farm in Beckwith, had served for 20 years as road commissioner in the township, for 10 years as assessor. He was
    born in Goulbourn, son of the late Samuel Simpson and his wife, Sarah Kemp, and was educated there. He took up
    farming in Beckwith on the 11th Line where he remained for 50 years. His marriage to the former Minnie Cram,
    daughter of the late James Cram and his wife Mary Whyte, took place in the township. The couple attended Zion
    United Church in Carleton Place. A few years ago, they came to Carleton Place. They have one son, Eric Simpson,
    of Carleton Place. Mr. Simpson had a sister, Mrs. Martin, of town, and Mrs. Simpson has two brothers Ned, of
    Beckwith, and Willard of town.

    On Apr 8 at the residence of her son-in-law, James Brown, 47 Arthur St., Ottawa, Mary Crawford, wife of the the late Samuel Simpson, age 106 yrs. Oldest woman in Ottawa, formerly of Ashton. Born Co. Down, Ireland, came to Canada c.1814 to Goulbourn, husband helped build Rideau Canal, he died 42 yrs ago. Family of 10, lvs 2: Mrs. James Brown [Agnes Ann] and William Simpson of Goulbourn.     In Beckwith, last Friday, Mrs. David Cram, of the IIIh conc. Born Ann Nicholson, in Yorkshire, England, in 1819, she came with her parents to this country in 1820. Settling first at Elizabethtown, they afterwards moved to Ramsay to Leckie's Crs. In 1838, at the age of 18 years, she married David Cram, son of Peter Cram, the first settler in the twp. John Cram was in fact the first settIer. A brother of David, he came in 1818. She had eleven children of whom eight now survive. Of the Nicholson family, only James Nicholson, of Ramsay, survives at the age of 86 years.
