    Pioneer Settler Dies Here

    Mrs. Margaret coxford, of 10439 139th. St., who opened the first grocery store on Walterdale Flats following the 1915 floods, died Monday.

    Mrs. coxford came to Edmonton in 1905 from dundee, Scotland, and ran a boarding house for the John Walters Lumber Mill which was located on Waterdale Flats, where the Kinsmens Park is today.

    After her marrage to James Coxford in 1908, she and her husband lived in the first house built in South Edmonton. The old home is now used as a place for city archives and a museum, and is located on 93rd. Ave., between 106 and 107th. Sts. on the river bank. She was predeceased by her husband in 1944.

    She is survived by three sons, Herbert and Robert of Edmonton, William of Victoria, B.C.; a daughter, Mrs. H. J. (Ada Mary) Lavoie of Edmonton; also 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

    The funeral service will be held at the Foster and McGarvey Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Rev. H. G. Marsh, of Eastminster Presbyterian Church will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
