    John Ernest Burroughs, onetime prospector and a highly regarded resident of the Capital for many years past, died at his residence, 284 Laurier avenue west, on Saturday. Born at Almonte in August, 1876, he was educated at Shawville and married the former Mary Coxford at Pembroke in 1900. He was a member of the United church in Ottawa, but owing to ill health during the past seven years, had been living in comparative retirement. Surviving, in addition to his widow, are two daughters. Mrs. J. E. "Nina" Bernard of St. Catharines, and Mrs. Walter J. "Pegi" Baker of Holland, Mich.: one brother, R. K. G. Burroughs, of Toronto, and three sisters, Mrs. George Argue of Fillmore, Sask.: Mrs. A. Battersill of California, and Mrs. Richard Gill of Falcon-bridge. Another brother. Dr. Charles M. Burroughs, prominent Sudbury physician, died some time ago. The body is resting at the Hulse and Playfair Limited Funeral Home, 315 McLeod street, where Rev. F. S. Milliken of; Stewarton United church will conduct the service in the chapel this evening at 8.30. Interment wrill be in Pembroke on Tuesday.
