    HAZIE L. MERKLEY Hazie Lemuel Merkley, resident of London. Ont and formerly of Ottawa, died suddenly at London on Sunday. Mr. Merkley was 49 years of age and the news of his death will be heard with regret by his many friends in the Capital. He was born at Cumberland, Ont.. son of the late Lemuel L. Merkley and his wife, Alice A. Styles, and came to Ottawa ln 1893. Early in 1915 he enlisted in the 51st battalion and served overseas until the end of the war. , Returning to Ottawa Mr. Merkley married Gladys P. Coxford. dauehter of Mr. and Mrs. James Coxford of Pembroke. Employed in the drawbacks division. Department of National Revenue, he was transferred to London in the spring of 1935. Surviving are his widow; two sons. William C. and Gordon H. Merkley, both of Montreal: one sister, Mrs. W. D. Brooks, also of Montreal: and two brothers. Roy E. of Toronto, and William A. Merkley of Ottawa. The body is being brought to Ottawa, where service and interment will take place. The time has not yet been decided.

    Hazie married Pearl Gladys Coxford on 3 Sep 1919 in Carleton County, Ontario, Canada. Pearl (daughter of James Coxford and Mary M. Campbell) was born on 6 Oct 1893 in Pembroke, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada; died on 20 Jun 1961 in Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan Municipality, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, Ottawa Municipality, Ontario, Canada.
