Came to Canada with his wife Mary Morrison, who was born in glasgow Jan 10 1974. She lived to be 101.
They married in 1818. Their first child had died becore they came to Canada and Mary was expecting a second when they set sail. This baby, a son George, was born in Ramsay September 1st. 1821.
Apparently they had known the Bowes family in Scotland (see the Glasgow Trongate society) and so they stayed with them when they first arrived in Canada

James Paterson was the fourth son of George Paterson (b. 1760) and Martha Armour (b. 1765). It is interesting to note that Martha's cousin was the wife of the poet, Robert Burns
