    Following a brief illness in hospital at Almonte on Christmas Day, 1997. Laurie More of Almonte. Age 63 Years. Beloved companion of Shirley Dolan. Dear father of Diane Potter (Bob) and Gloria Stewart (Tom) of Ottawa. Loved grandfather of Bryce and Quinton Potter and Miranda and Kyle Stewart. Son of the late Milton More and his wife the late Elizabeth Logan. Loved brother of Doreen Saunders (Russ) of Ottawa, Logan (Jean) and John (Ruth) both of Ramsay and Ann Levi-Bourgoin of Kanata. Predeceased by his brother Bert and his infant sister, Doris. Lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Friends called at the C.R. GAMBLE FUNERAL HOME, 127 Church Street. Almonte on Friday. Service was held in the Chapel on Saturday. Rev. Grant Wilson officiated. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte.

    Almonte lost a life-long resident of town when Laurier Bryon More died December 25, 1997 at the age of 63. Mr. More was born in Almonte Dec. 8, 1934 to parents Milton More and Elizabeth Logan. He was educated in Almonte before becoming a mechanic. Mr. More was also a member of the Almonte Legion. He became ill in November before dying Christmas day. He is survived by daughters Gloria Stewart and Diane Potter of Ottawa, sisters Ann Levi-Bourgoin and Doreen Saunders of Ottawa, and brothers Logan More and John More of Almonte. He was predeceased by brother Bert and infant sister Doris. The funeral service took place at C.R. Gamble Funeral Home and Chapel Dec. 27 at 12 p.m., with Rev. Grant Wilson presiding. Auld Kirk Cemetery is the place of burial. Kerry Saunders, Boyne Saunders, Don Levi, Tom Stewart, Bob Potter and Jack MacDonald acted as pallbearers.

    The death of Mr. Milton More of 258 St. George Street, Almonte, occurred at the Almonte General Hospital at 7.30 o'clock on the evening of September 15, 1977, following a lengthy illness. He was 75. Mr. More was born in Ramsay Township on August 31, 1902, a son of the late Charles More and his wife Catherine Gunn. He farmed in Ramsay before his retirement. He was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church. He was married at Almonte on June 26, 1925, to the former Elizabeth Logan, who survives, together with four sons and two daughters, ? Logan of Almonte; Bert, Arnprior; John, Carleton Place; Laurie, Kingston; Doreen (Mrs Russ Saunders), Ottawa, and Ann (Mrs James Levi), Almonte. Also surviving are two brothers, Andrew and Charles, both of Almonte. A sister Myrtle, of Trenton and brother Harold of Almonte, predeceased him. The funeral was held from the Comba & Gamble Funeral Home, Church Street, Almonte, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept 17, with burial at Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev E. Smith of St. John's Church conducted the services, assisted by Rev P. Rumball. The pallbearers were Earl More, Thomas More, Kerry Saunders, Boyne Saunders, Donevan Levi and Mike Parkman.

    Milton married Elizabeth "Betty" Logan in 1924.     Elizabeth (Betty) More died on Nov 14, following a lengthy illness at Almonte General Hospital, she had been since September 1984. Mrs More the former Elizabeth Logan was born on July 5, 1904 in Pakenham Township, the daughter of the late John Logan and Agnes McRae. She married the late Milton More on June 26, 1924 in Almonte. Mrs More is survived by sons Logan of Almonte; Bert of Arnprior; John of Ramsay Township; Laurie of Almonte and daughters Doreen of Ottawa (Mrs Russ Saunders); Ann of Kanata (Mrs Mike Bourgoin). A daughter Doreen died in infancy. She is also survived by a sister, Lois Stein of St Lambert, Quebec, 15 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Mrs More is predeceased by three brothers: William of Renfrew, John of Lowville, NY; and Alec of Sarasota, Florida. She was a lifetime resident of Almonte and Ramsay Township. She was a member of the Almonte Presbyterian Church, and the Progressive Conservative Party. Funeral was held at the Almonte Presbyterian Church on Nov 16, 1985, Rev Edward Smith officiating. After resting at Gamble & Comba Funeral Home, Mrs More was buried at Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kerry Saunders, Boyne Saunders, Don Levi, Earl More, Gordon Logan, and Douglas Logan. Honourary pallbearers were her sons Logan, Bert, John, Laurie and son-in-law Russ Saunders.

    Charles More, a well known and highly respected resident of Almonte died last Saturday at the home of his son in Ramsay. Mr More was taken ill while working with his son Andrew, Saturday morning and passed away shortly afterwards. He was in his 68th year. Born in Ramsay, he was the son of the late William More and his wife Matilda Nicholson. He had farmed in Ramsay for many years, and then retired to live in Almonte. Surviving in addition to his widow, are four sons, Milton and Andrew of Ramsay, Harold and Charles of Almonte; one daughter Mrs John Corkery of Gananoque; and three brothers, James More of Almonte, Donald and Edward of Crystal Falls, Ont. The late Mr More was of a quiet retiring disposition and was well-known and highly respected by a wide circle of friends. The funeral was held Monday from his late residence to the Auld Kirk cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs Andrew More, Milton More, Harold More, Chas More Jr., Grant Gunn and Stanley More. Rev A.J. Fowlie of the Presbyterian Church of which deceased was a member officiated, assisted by Rev W.J. Scott and Rev Wm Aird. Among the beautiful floral tributes were pieces from the W.M.S. of the Presbyterian Church, the staff of the Producers Dairy and Mr M.J. Black, manager of Producers Dairy.

    Charles married Catherine Gunn in 1895.     The death occurred in Almonte on Thursday March 11th, of Mrs Chas More, at the age of 67 years. Deceased, whose maiden name was Catherine Gunn, was born in Darling Township, a daughter of Mr and Mrs George Gunn. Following her marriage to Mr Chas More, they farmed in Ramsay Township and later retired to live in Almonte. Her husband predeceased her in July, 1942. Left to mourn are four sons Milton and Andrew of Ramsay; Harold and Charles of Ramsay; one daughter Mrs John Corkery of Gananoque. Of her immediate family there are eight brothers and two sisters surviving, namely: Daniel, Almonte, Alex of Arnprior; George of Tatlock; Grant of Ramsay; Bert of Brantford; Ernest of Battleford, Sask., James of Climax, Sask., Stewart of Winchester, Belle, Mrs Wm McDonald of Pakenham and Jeanette, Mrs Wm Rintoul of Tatlock. The funeral will take place from the Comba Funeral Home, Church Street, Saturday, March 13th, at 2.30 p.m. to the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The service will be held at 2 p.m.

    The funeral of Mrs Chas More, whose death occurred on March 11th, was held on Saturday afternoon, March 13, from the Comba Funeral Home. The service was conducted by Rev A.J. Fowlie of the Presbyterian Church of which deceased was a member, assisted by Rev W.J Scott of Bethany United Church. Surviving are four sons, Milton, Andrew, Harold and Charles, all of Ramsay Township and one daughter Myrtle, Mrs John Corkery of Gananoque. The pallbearers were her four sons and two brothers, Alex Gunn, Arnprior and Daniel Gunn of Almonte. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Among the beautiful floral tributes were pieces from the Producer Dairy, Almonte, and the W.M.S. of the Presbyterian Church. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr Stewart Gunn, Winchester; Mr and Mrs Howard McBane of Smiths Falls; Mr and Mrs Alex Gunn of Arnprior, Miss Blanche Ring of White Lake and Mr Wm McDonald of Pakenham.
