    Notes:

    Died:
Hugh is likely buried in Purdy's cemetery where his two wives are found, however I have not found his name on any list of burials, nor does the death record show where he was buried.

Married to Elizabeth "Betsey" Reid in Ireland. The first two of their nine children (James and Samuel) were born there; sometime between 1835 and 1839, they emigrated to Canada, and the remainder of their children (John, William, Martha, Hugh, Thomas, Benjamin, and Jacob) were born in Ontario. Betsey died in 1870 and was buried in Purdy's cemetery, along with their sons John (1839-1868) and Thomas (1850-1881), according to lists of interments.

Hugh was remarried in 1873 to Elizabeth Miller. They did not have any children. Hugh died in December 1900. Elizabeth died in 1920 and, according to her death registration, was buried in Purdy's Cemetery.

Hugh married Elizabeth Reid. Elizabeth was born in 1812 in Ireland; died on 29 Sep 1870; was buried in 1870 in Purdy Cemetery, Brockton Township, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
