    ?b?JOHNSON?/b?, Mrs. Adam - Passes away in her 98th year. One of Almonte's eldest residents, Mrs. Mary Catherine Munro Johnson, passed away at the Almonte General Hospital early Sunday morning. August the 2nd, 1970. Born in Lanark Township January the 3rd, 1872, she was a daughter of Daniel Monro and his wife, Margaret McMunn. She was the last surviving of a family of 12. She was married to Mr. Adam Johnson on March the 13th, 1894. Mr. Johnson predeceased his wife in 1945, and a son Dr. Willard E. Johnson, died at an early age in 1933. Surviving are three daughters, Gertrude (Mrs. William Colborne) , Miss Margaret Johnson of Almonte and Isabel (Mrs. R. G. Whitelaw of London, Ontario. Also, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the Comba Funeral Home, Church Street, on Tuesday August the 4th, at 2:00 p.m. and was conducted by Rev. Morris of Almonte United Church. Burial was made at the Auld Kirk cemetery, Almonte, Ontario.

    (Research):Information from Jayne Munro-Oimet 10 May 2018:This information on Janet Murray was give to me by my great Aunt Katherine McKirdy, she was the daughter of Hugh Munro who married Janet Price. Hugh Munro was the son of John Munro who Married Marian McKay. John Munro was the son Of Donald Munro and Margaret Murray who came here in 1830 (1832). My great great grandfather John lived many years with his son Hugh (Janet Price), he told all his grand children what Scotland was like when he grew up there. Why they came to Canada, and what happened to his mother. Margaret Donald's Wife is said to be buried in the Pioneer Cemetery at Middleville all that is left of it today is the row of a few saved headstones by the church in Middleville.
