    Local Businessman Archie Lockhart Dies Suddenly
    A well known area businessman, Archie Lockhart, proprietor of Lindsay Farm Equipment in Almonte passed away suddenly in Almonte General Hospital on Saturday, September 14th, 1974. Mr Lockhart had suffered from a heart condition for some time. He was 55 years of age. Born in Almonte on October 3rd, 1918, the son of the late Arthur Lockhart and Lyla Bennett, who survives, he was educated in local schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. On May 23rd, 1942, he married the former Margaret Lindsay at Almonte United Church. Well known in the agricultural field throughout the area, Mr Lockhart was associated with the farm equipment business for over 30 years during which time he worked with Mr John Lindsay finally taking over the business in 1963. For many years he was an active member of the Almonte Curling Club and was an avid competitor until the local rink burned down a few years ago. Besides his wife, Margaret, he is survived by a son, Donald, one brother, Mel, of Almonte and a sister, Hilda (Mrs Keith Jackson), of Bowmanville. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Heather. Funeral services for Mr Lockhart were held from the Kerry Funeral Home to Auld Kirk Cemetery for interment on Monday, September 16. Rev Robt J McCrea conducted the services. Pallbearers were Brian Jackson, Arthur Jackson, Wayne Lockhart, Ronald Lindsay, David Drummond and Gilmour Drummond.

    Well-known Painter And Decorator Passes
    Mr Arthur Lockhart, a life-long resident of this area, passed away at Almonte General Hospital on Sunday, February 23, 1969. Born in Almonte, August 20th, 1893, he was the youngest son of the late Arthur Lockhart and Margaret Cowie. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, the former Lila Bennett and three children, Mel and Archie of Almonte, and Hilda (Mrs Keith Jackson), Bowmanville. One brother Harry, of Carleton Place also survives. The funeral was held from the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte. Rev Skoutajan conducted the service. Burial was in Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were four grandsons, Wayne and Don Lockhart, Brian and Arthur Jackson, Clark Larocque and Edgar Carroll. Many beautiful floral tributes and donations to worthy causes were received.

    LYLA BENNETT LOCKHART
    The death occurred suddenly on Monday, March 10th, 1975, of Mrs. A. Lockhart at Almonte General Hospital. Deceased was born in White Lake, the daughter the late Mr. and Mrs. A. Bennett. Predeceased by husband Arthur and one son, Archie, she leaves to mourn her loss, son Melville of Almonte and daughter Hilda (Mrs. Keith Jackson of Bowmanville); also seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren; one sister Francis (Mrs. J. A. Kippen, White Lake) and brother, Archie Bennett of Arnprior, also survive. The funeral was held from the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte. The Rev. R. J. McCrea conducted the service.     Almonte Businessman John Lindsay Passes
    A well known resident and businessman of the area, John Lindsay, passed away at the Almonte Nursing Home on Thursday, February 27, 1975. He was in his 89th year. Mr Lindsay was born in Pakenham Township on April 1st, 1886, the son of the late John Lindsay and late Sarah Elizabeth Connery. He attended school in that area and later turned to farming, eventually entering the farm implement business. In 1912, Mr Lindsay married the former Annie W. Scott, who predeceased him in 1965. They left the farm in Pakenham Township 1932, locating in Almonte where Mr Lindsay established the present premises of Lindsay Farm Equipment on Bridge Street, selling International Harvester products. Mr Lindsay was a life member of the Masonic Order, having joined in 1916. He was also an avid curler and was a member of the Almonte Curling Club for many years until failing health forced him to give up the game. In later years, however, he was a keen observer of many matches at the old clubhouse on Brea Street. He was a member of Almonte United Church. Mr Lindsay semi-retired in 1963 when his son-in-law, the late Archie Lockhart took over the farm implement business. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Lockhart, one grandson, Don and one granddaughter. Funeral services for Mr Lindsay were held from the Kerry Funeral Home, Almonte, on Sunday, March 2nd, at 2.30 p.m. Rev Ray Anderson, of Ottawa, a former minister of Almonte United Church, conducted the service. Interment was in Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave Drummond, Gill Drummond, Ron Lindsay, Jack Toshack, John Munro and Robert Cochran.

    ANNIE WALKER LINDSAY
    The death of Annie Walker Lindsay occurred at her home, 204 Parkview Blvd., Almonte, Ont., suddenly on Friday, Nov. 12. 1965. Mrs. Lindsay was born at Cedar Hill, May 10, 1889, daughter of the late Richard Scott and his wife Caroline McMunn. Annie Walker Scott was married to John Lindsay at Cedar Hill on Oct. 8. 1912. Her husband survives and one daughter, Margaret, (Mrs. Archie Lockhart) of Almonte, and one grandchild, Donald. Also surviving is one brother, W. A. Scott of Pakenham. She was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Milton Lindsay of Pakenham Township. Mrs. Lindsay was a member of the Almonte United Church. She was keenly interested in community and church work. She was a life member of W.M.S. of Almonte United Church, North Lanark Agricultural Society and Ramsay Women's Institute, of which she has been treasurer for a number of years. The large funeral from the Kerry Funeral Home was held on Monday afternoon, Nov. 15, and was a fitting tribute to this lady. Rev. Skoutajan officiated. The pallbearers were; Harold Robertson, J. L. Erskine, Clare Syme, Robert Cochran, Jack Toshack and Ronald Lindsay. Interment was it the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte.
