    James Victor Kellough
    On July 6, 1989, J. Victor Kellough died in Almonte General Hospital following a three and one-half year hospitalization. He was 90 years old. Born March 30, 1899, on the first concession of Ramsay, he moved with his family in 1909 to Spruce Hill Farm on the Twelfth Concession of Ramsay, where he resided until his retirement in 1983. He was the son to the late Robert G. Kellough and his late wife Margaret Young. Mr Kellough was a graduate of the class of 1924 of Kemptville Agricultural School, which was the second graduating class of that school. He has a keen interest in agriculture and Holstein cattle, and had one of the first 200,000 pound producing cows in Eastern Ontario. He was active in farm organizations in earlier years, and held offices in Farm Forum, United Co-op and various other farm organizations. In later years he was keenly interested in the North Lanark Historical Society. Mr Kellough took an active part in his local church and was a life member of the session of the Almonte United Church. Mr Kellough was married in June 1926 to Gladys Cynthia Paul in St James Anglican Church, Carleton Place and together they farmed at Spruce Hill until her death in February 1982. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Douglas (Jean) King, Cambridge; Mrs. Jack (Florence) Virgin, Almonte; Mrs. Harold (Cynthia) Stuart, Simcoe; and Mrs. Ronald (Carol) James, Perth. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Margaret Kellough of Toronto. Besides his late wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, John Y. Kellough and Earle G. Kellough, and one sister, Jean. Visitation was held at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home in Almonte July 7, followed by the funeral in the Gamble Funeral Home Chapel July 8. The service was conducted by Rev. Clifford Evans, assisted by Rev. Edward Colwell and Rev. Douglas Kellough, a nephew of the deceased. Six grandchildren acted as pallbearers: Brett James, Colin and Cynthia King, Terry Stuart, Paul and David Virgin. Interment was in the family plot at the Auld Kirk Cemetery on the Eighth Line of Ramsay.

    Gladys Kellough
    A lifelong resident of Lanark county, Gladys Cynthia (Paul) Kellough died suddenly on Tuesday evening, February 9 in her 82nd year. She was born at Clayton, the eldest of five children of the late William B. Paul and Cynthia Timmins. Her early years were spent at Clayton before the family moved to Appleton. She attended Carleton Place High School before going to the Ottawa Normal School. After graduation, she taught primary school and married J. Victor Kellough in June of 1926 at St James Anglican Church, Carleton Place. All of her married life was spent at Spruce Hill Farm, RR 4, Almonte. Mrs Kellough was a founding member of the Appleton Homemaker's Club and the Appleton Women's Institute, and her interest lasted until her death. She was both a charter and life member of the Appleton Women's Institute, and at one time was District President of Lanark North. Her keen interest in farm organizations and all things pertaining to the betterment of the farm community led her into the Lanark Cooperative Medical Services, and she acted as its secretary-manager for its entire duration. She also held offices in the Farm Forum and the Federation of Agriculture, and was Director of restoration of the Ramsay Pioneer Methodist Cemetery and director of building for the Doreen Drummond Museum at Appleton and a member of the North Lanark Historical Society. Mrs Kellough took a keen interest in her church and was a member of the Almonte United Church and the UCW. She is survived by her husband, and four daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Jean) King, Cambridge; Mrs. Jack (Florence ) Virgin, Almonte; Mrs. Harold (Cynthia ) Stuart, Simcoe, and Mrs. Ronald (Carol) James, Perth. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Ann) Bradley, Ottawa and Mrs. Harry (Effie) Johnson, Arizona. Two brothers, Wilmot and Clifford Paul predeceased her. Visitation was held at the Gamble & Comba Funeral Home in Almonte of Feb 11, and the remains were moved to the Almonte United Church to lay in state until the funeral on Feb 12. Rev Jack Lougheed conducted the service assisted by Archdeacon John Salter. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers, Brett James, Colin King, Terry Stuart and Paul, David and Mark Virgin. Interment was at Auld Kirk Cemetery on the 8th Line of Ramsay.

    MOSES CHAMBERS FERGUSONS FALLS --Prominent farmer dies after three days illness -- The death occurred Thursday last week of a respected citizen in the name of Moses Chambers who passed away in his 72nd year following a brief illness. The late Mr Chambers had been in good health until three days previous to his death when he became seriously ill with abdominal trouble, complications which later developed, from which death occurred. Deceased was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Chambers and was born in Oso Township. He was married in Oso to Ms Susannah Graham who predeceased him many years ago. During his residence in Oso, he served as councilor for many years. He was also a school trustee for the Zealand School. In fraternal circles deceased was a member of the Oso Orange Lodge and in church circles he was a devout member of the Anglican Church. The greater part of his life was spent in the township where he was born and worked for for the TNE railway in Englehart and and for two or three years in Western Canada but family continued residence in Oso. --- About 18 years ago, Mr Chambers came to Ferguson's Falls where he bought and settled on the farm formerly owned by Mr JM Quinn of Carleton Place, and there he remained until his death. --- He was a man loyal to his friends, kindly and sympathetic and generous of heart. He took a keen interest in new developments and contributed in no small way to anything beneficial nature. --- The late Mr. Chambers is survived by one son, Mr. Milford Chambers, at home; one daughter, Mrs WL James of Halpenny; one daughter Cora Mabel is deceased. Six brothers, Messrs. Ed Chambers, London; John of Hexton; Joseph and Elijah of Blucher; William of Edmonton; and Elwin of Glen Ewan, Saskatchewan; also survived with one sister, Mrs Elizabeth Fowler, of the West. One sister is deceased. Three grandchildren, Raymond and Audrey Chambers and William James survive. --- The funeral was very largely attended, took place from his late residence to Zealand Anglican Church and thence to cemetery. Rev JRW Meakin of Clayton conducted the service. The pallbearers were Messrs. A.M. Sheppard, W.J. Rothwell, Cyril Warren, Charles Quinn, W.C. Gardiner, and Elmer Duffy. -- Among his friends from a distance attending the funeral were Mr Willis Chambers, Miss Rotha Chambers, Mrs William McNabb, Hexton; Mrs Ernest Hagan, Smiths Falls; Mr and Mrs J.A. Menzies, Mrs K. Byrne, Perth. Beautiful floral tributes were received and included wreaths from Mr and Mrs Milford Chambers, Mr and Mrs WL James, Mr and Mrs Sydney Hagan; sprays, grandchildren; Mr and Mrs Elmer Duffy. The sympathy of a host of friends is extended the bereaved son, daughter, brother and sisters.

    Robert George Kellough
    Almonte lost one of its elderly citizens Friday, Feb 29th, in the person of Robert George Kellough. He was in his 87th year and had lived in Almonte since his retirement from the farm 25 years ago. Although he suffered a slight stroke some time ago Mr Kellough was in good health up to a few days before his death when a heavier and more serious visitation of the same malady brought his long life to a close. Deceased was born in Ramsay Township on July 10th, 1865, a son of the late James Kellough and his wife, Jane Gemmill. He married Margaret Brown Young of Arnprior who predeceased him in 1945. For some years Mr Kellough farmed on the first line of Ramsay, adjacent to the old homestead and in 1909 he removed to the farm on the twelfth line where he continued to live until his retirement. Mr Kellough was an industrious man and got along well with all his neighbours and friends. He never took part in municipal politics or public affairs but for all that he was a sociable person who was pleasant to meet and highly respected. He leaves three sons and one daughter, namely, J. Victor of Ramsay; John Y. of Cobourg; Earle G. of Dunnville and Miss Margaret H., supervisor of the hospital at Port Hope. There are also ten grandchildren and one great grandson. Mr Kellough was a member of Bethany United Church. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon to the Auld Kirk Cemetery from the Comba Funeral Home. Services were conducted by Rev H. C. Wolfraim. Pallbearers were: Oswald Allen, Kenneth Robertson, Harvey Young, William McArton, J.B. Neilson and Allie Stewart. Among many floral offerings were pieces from the Port Hope Hospital Board, the staff of the hospital and special nurses, W.N. Moore, Mayor of the town; the staff of Dunnville High School and the Ralston Purina Co.

    Mrs Robt G. Kellough
    Mrs Robert G. Kellough, the former Margaret Brown Young, died at her residence in Almonte, Tuesday, following a lengthy illness. She was in her 78th year. Mrs Kellough, who was born and educated in Renfrew County, was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Young. She was married in 1898 at Claybank, Ont., and had been a resident of Almonte for the past 20 years Active in church work until the time of her illness she was a regular attendant of Bethany United Church at Almonte and was a life member of the W.M.S. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Victor Kellough of Almonte; John Kellough of Cobourg; Earle Kellough of Dunnville; a daughter, Capt. Matron Margaret M. Kellough, R.C.A.M.C., recently returned home from overseas two brothers, William A. Young, of Clayton, Dr. John M. Young, of Rapid City, Man., and one sister, Mrs John McArton of Ottawa. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock this Thursday afternoon to Bethany Church where a service was conducted and interment was in Auld Kirk Cemetery.
