    Mrs. Thos. Tosh
    The death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Norman Gillan, Forester's Falls on Saturday, Oct 11 of Mrs. Thomas Tosh, an old and highly esteemed resident in her 91st year. She failed to rally from a stroke that she suffered one month ago. Annie Dunlop was born at Pakenham, daughter of the late Charles Dunlop and his wife Anne Houston. Sixty years ago she married Mr. Tosh of Pakenham and had resided here most of her life, except for nine years at Renfrew, until the death of her husband ten years ago when she went to reside with her daughter. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church here and a valued member of the Missionary Society. Surviving are. one son Wm. Tosh of Ottawa and one daughter, (Annie) Mrs. Norman Gillan, three grandchildren, Mrs. C. H. Loken of Ottawa, Mrs. Delmer Bennett and Miss Helen Gillan of Forester's Falls. Of a family of nine she is survived by one brother, Mr. Chas. Dunlop of Regina. The numerous floral tributes included a sheaf from the W.M.S. and W.A. of the church and the Women's Institute. The funeral service was held at her late home Monday Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. with interment in the Union Cemetery Pakenham, Rev. H, S. Cooke of Beachburg officiated. Pallbearers were Messrs Stan. Groves, Holly Smith, Harold Fishenden, Walter Scott, Ernie Ritchie and J. W. Barber.

    Annie married Thomas James Tosh in 1887. Thomas (son of William Tosh and Joann Carswell) was born on 21 Feb 1854 in Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 17 Sep 1937 in Pakenham Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Pakenham Union Cemetery, Pakenham, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada.     Friends in Pakenham heard with regret of the death on Friday last of Mr Charles Dunlop, of the twelfth line of Pakenham township. He was born on Oct 8th, 1824, on the homestead in Ramsay, and was terfore in his ninety-second year. On Dec 16th, 1851, he was married in St James church, Carleton Place, to Miss Annie Houston, and to then nine children were born, two of whom Sarah Paul (Mrs D. McGill), and Alice Emery (Mrs T. McKibbin) are dead. The others are Elizabeth (Mrs Wm. Francis) Renfrew; Jennie (Mrs Chas. Comba) Almonte; Annie (Mrs Thos. Tosh), Pakenham; John Houston, on the homestead; Charles Steward, Tyvan, Sask.; George Arthur, Calgary, Alta., and Mary Ellen (Mrs Wm. Reynolds), Fernie, B.C. His wife predeceased him about eight years ago. The funeral took place on Monday to St Mark's church, when the rector, Rev. R. Turley, was assisted in the services by Rev. C.F. Clarke of Fitzroy Harbour and Rev. E.F. Salmon of Galetta. The sympathy of the whole community is extend to the bereaved ones, in this their hour of sorrow. The late Mr Dunlop was a man highly esteemed as a neighbour and friend, and during his long residence here, won the esteem and respect of the whole countryside.

    Charles married Anne Houston on 16 Dec 1851 in Carleton Place, Lanark County, Canada West. Anne was born on 5 Oct 1826 in Dalhousie and North Sherbrooke Townships, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; died on 29 Jun 1908 in Pakenham Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in 1908 in St. Mark's Anglican Cemetery, Pakenham, Mississippi Mills, Ontario, Canada.     On Thursday of last week, Mrs Charles Dunlop fell and received such a shock as to necessitate medical attention as the home of her daughter, Mrs Thomas Tosh. It was thought that she had received a slight stroke of paralysis, which caused the fall.....One of Pakenham township's oldest members passed away this week when Mrs Chas. Dunlop (nee Anne Houston) passed to the great unknown at the ripe age of 82 years. Deceased lived most of her life in Pakenham township, but a short time ago went to Renfrew to be with her daughter, Mrs Wm. Francis. Her death occurring while visiting another daughter, Mrs Thos. Tosh, of Pakenham. Besides Mr Dunlop, himself, 83 years of age, there are four daughters and three sons living - Mrs Reynolds of Regina, Mrs Wm Francis of Renfrew, Mrs Thos. Tosh of Pakenham, Mrs Chas. Comba, Almonte; Chas in Manitoba, George in New Ontario and John on the homestead. There are two daughters dead. Deceased, through her long, peaceful life, made many friends with whom her memory will remain long after the outward form has passed from view.
