DEATHS
GILES, Scott - Employee for the Pro Desk at Home Depot - Nepean Store (June 17, 1960 - July 22, 2011) With very heavy hearts, we let you know that Scott passed away on Friday. Going the way he would want to go, in his sleep, while dreaming of the next wood project. With sadness and to ask "why" he leaves behind his "sunshine" Judy Vance, his children "Spud" Bruce (Nicole Hall), "Pooh" Tara (Wayne Campbell) and his little "girlie" granddaughter Bronwyn. Scott was a Grandson of Ernie and Irene Giles (McGregor) and George and Agnes Smith (Murray) all predeceased. Scott was the son of Menzie Giles (predeceased) and Agnes Giles (Smith). He was the beloved brother of Debbie (Dennis Carey), Kathy (Wally Cieslukowski), Brent Giles (Charlene Audet), Brad Giles (Kim). He was son in law and great friend to Eddie and Ila (predeceased) Vance and another brother for Don (Janet), Bill (Melaina), Barry(Joanne) and Dale Vance. Special Uncle to Shannon, Maighan, Matthew, Ryan, Justin, Sherrie (Cory), Katie, Erin, Sandy, Gracey & Nathan. He also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. His love and companionship will be greatly missed by his extra special cousins the Patersons and their extended family. Following cremation, visitation will be at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes 115 Rivington Street Carp, Ontario on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 6 - 9 p.m. Memorial service will be held in the chapel on Thursday July 28, 2011 at 1:00 pm followed by burial at Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte, ON.

Peacefully at Ottawa Civic Hospital on Wednesday, June 9, 2004. M. Menzie Giles of Perth in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Agnes (Smith) Giles. Loving father of Deborah (Dennis) Carey of London, Kathryn (Wally) Cieslukowski of Vancouver, Scott of Perth, Brent (Charlene) of Smiths Falls, and Bradley (Kim) of Vancouver. Sadly missed by grandchildren, Bruce, Tara, Maigan, Shannon, Matthew, Justin and Ryan. Dear brother of Elford of Almonte and Irene Rath of Richmond. Predeceased by brother Ivan. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Perth & District Funeral Home Chapel and Reception Centre 15 Victoria Street, Perth on Sunday 2 - 4 p.m.

GILES, Agnes Ida (nee Smith)
Passed away peacefully at Strathmere Lodge on August 11, 2019 at the age of 86. Born in Detroit, Michigan on March 18, 1933, to George Dawson Smith and Agnes Watson Smith (nee Murray). She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Mervin "Menzie" Giles June 9, 2004. She was also predeceased by two sons, Menzie Bruce "Scott" Giles, 2011 and Andrew "Brent" Giles, 2015. She leaves behind two daughters "Deborah" Agnes Carey (Dennis), "Kathryn" Ann Cieslukowski (Wally) and one son Clifford "Bradley" Giles (Kim). She also leaves behind seven grandchildren Bruce (Nicole), Tara, Maighan, Shannon (Travis), Matthew (Rebecca), Justin and Ryan. Also four great-grandchildren Bronwyn, Scott, Roland and Malcolm left to morn her are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She leaves two brothers George (the late Rebecca) and Murray ( Patricia) and one sister Elizabeth (the late Orville Taylor). Predeceased by three sisters, Maude (1936), Dorothy (the late Delmer Paterson) and Helen (the late Elden Devlin). Cremation has taken place.

Suddenly in hospital at Almonte on Saturday August 21, 1993. Ernie Giles of Almonte. Age 86 Years. Beloved husband of the late Irene MacGregor. Dear father of Menzie (Agnes), Ottawa; Irene (Mrs Clare Rath), Richmond and Elford (Pat), Almonte. Father-in-law of Mrs Gwen Giles. Predeceased by his son Ivan. Brother of Mrs Mary Obrey, Mrs Laura Baird. Jean (Mrs Norman Sadler) and Mrs Eleanor Carpenter. Predeceased by 1 sister Mrs Florence Rae and 1 brother Allen. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his granddaughter, Sandra. Friends called at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home, 127 Church Street, Almonte. Service was held in the Chapel on Tuesday. Rev Grant Wilson officiated. Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte.

Ernest Clarence Giles
Long-time Almonte resident Ernest Clarence Giles died Aug 21 in the Almonte General Hospital at age 86. He was born in Fitzroy Township June 10, 1907 to the late Robert Giles and the late Jean MacArthur Giles. On April 24, 1929 he married the late Irene Marion Stewart MacGregor in Arnprior. A stationary engineer, Mr Giles lived most of his life in the Almonte and Renfrew areas. he was an elder with the Almonte Presbyterian Church. Mr Giles was a past master to the Royal Black Preceptory 639, Loyal Orange Lodge 378 and the Orange Young Britons 257. The Hope Street resident owned a 1906 Sawyer Massey steam engine which he exhibited at fairs around the area. Mr Giles is survived by sons Menzie of Ottawa and Elford of Almonte. daughter Irene Rath and sisters Mary Obrey, Laura Baird. Jean Sadler and Eleanor Carpenter. He was predeceased by son Ivan, brother Ivan and sister Florence Rae. Rev Grant Wilson led the funeral service at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home Aug 24 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael, Ian, Brent, and Scott Giles and Rodney and Dale Rath

MRS. ERNEST GILES
The death of Irene Marion Stewart MacGregor, beloved wife of Mr. Ernest C. Giles of Hope street, Almonte, occurred at the Almonte General Hospital, on Monday evening, August 20th, after an illness of several years' duration. She was in her 68th year. Mrs. Giles was a member of the Almonte Presbyterian Church and of the Ladies' Orange Benevolent Association, having joined in Renfrew, and later joined No. 1209, Almonte. She was devoted to her family and her home. Born in Horton Township, Renfrew County, on December 8, 1905, she was a daughter of the late William Hart MacGregor and his late wife, Mary Elizabeth Wilson. She received her education at Horton Township public school. She was married to Mr. Giles on April 24, 1929, at Arnprior, by the late Rev. E. J. Kerr. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Menzie M. of Ottawa, R. Elford and Ivan W. C., of Almonte; a daughter, Irene Mrs. Clare Rath) of Richmond, and one brother, Lawrence H. MacGregor, at home. A brother, William D. MacGregor, predeceased her in 1936. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church street, on Thursday afternoon, August 23, to Almonte Presbyterian Church for service at 2.30 o'clock, with burial at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Douglas C. McQuaig and Rev. Raymond Brown of Almonte Baptist Church. The L.O.B.A. held a funeral home service on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. for their late sister. Pallbearers were a nephew, William Charles MacGregor, Delmer Paterson, Felix Obrey, Edwin Lowry, Edward Scott and Wilbert E. Paterson.
