It was with sincere regret that the many friends in Almonte and vicinity learned of the early death of Mr Wm Anderson, on the 24th, at Wetaskewin, Alberta, from paralysis, he was so well and favourably known all through the valley owing to his long connection with the C.P.R. Deceased was born in 1853 at Bennie's Corners, his father being the late Wm Anderson, who will be remembered only by the older settlers, as he passed away some 27 years ago. His mother, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Peters, died about ten years ago. The family consisted of two brothers, John and Alexander, both dead, and two sisters living, Mrs Alex Gourlay (nee Mary) at Lavoy and Mrs Sam Reid (nee Maggie) at Methven, Man. Mr Anderson remained of the farm until 1885 when he entered the employ of the C.P.R., remaining with that company until about a year ago when he was obliged to retire through bad health and went west. His long service with the C.P.R. gave him a wide circle of friends all through this section, who admired him for his unfailing courtesy. He leaves his wife (nee Margaret Austen) and three sons, William G. and John P. at Wetaskewin, and Chas. Alex. in Ottawa. The funeral Wednesday was the final tribute of sympathizing friends who were present in large numbers. The following tribute, from one who knew him well, gives a word portrait of the man: "Willie Anderson, as he was familiarly called by Ramsay people, was a son of the late Wm. Anderson of Bennie's Corners. Early in his life he took up railroading, and for many years was conductor on the Ottawa- Pembroke local. Among railway men he was much liked for his cheery disposition, his level-headed common sense, and his remarkable gifts as a conversationalist and litterateur. Few men, even among the college-bred, have such intimate acquaintance with the best English prose and poetry as he possessed; while his knowledge of Macaulay's history and essays could not well have been more profound and loving critical. Like every other lover of what is deep in thought or beautiful in expression, he loved his Bible; and he proved by an upright life that his regard for it was not merely intellectual.

William married Margaret Elizabeth Austin in 1886. Margaret was born on 18 Apr 1858 in Seymour, Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada; died on 27 Jun 1927 in Ottawa Municipality, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 28 Jun 1927 in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. ANDERSON - On Monday, June 27, 1927, at her late residence, 278 Flora street, Margaret Elizabeth Austin, wife of the late William Anderson, aged 69 years. Funeral service at above address at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 28. Interment at Almonte, Wednesday morning.

Funeral of Mrs Anderson
The funeral service of Mrs Margaret Austin Anderson, who died on Monday, was held at her home, 278 Flora street, last evening, in the presence of a large gathering of friends. Service was conducted by Rev F.S. Milliken, of Stewarton United Church. Many beautiful floral offerings were received, among them being tributes from the Young Ladies' Auxiliary of First United Church, Chief Accountant's Branch of the Department of National Defense, Brotherhood of Railroad Employes, office and staff of the Signals and Test Department, the staff of the parcel room, C.N.R. Union Station. Chief mourners were two sons, John P. Anderson and Charles A. Anderson, of Ottawa. The remains were removed to Union Station at eight o'clock this morning and were taken to Almonte, where interment will be made in the family plot on the 8th Line Cemetery

In Ramsay, on the 4th July, Mr Wm Anderson, in the 75th year of his age. Deceased was born in Cambuslang, near Glasgow, and emigrated to this county with his father in 1821.

William married Elizabeth Peters. Elizabeth (daughter of Alexander Peters and Margaret McFadyen) was born on 30 Jul 1831 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland; died on 3 Apr 1898 in Renfrew, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada; was buried on 5 Apr 1898 in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Ramsay, Mississippi Mills, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. Lanark Era Mrs. William Anderson of Ramsay died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Alex. Gourley of Eganville, Sunday, April3rd? She was 66 years of age. Born Elizabeth Peters she carne from Paisley, Scotland with her parents at the age of II years. They settled in Ramsay, where she married the late William Anderson of Bennie's Comers. Her husband died 17 years ago, leaving her with five children: John Anderson and Mrs. Sam Reid both of Methven, Man.,; Wm. Anderson, CPR conductor of Eganville; Alex. Anderson, at home, who died three years ago, and Mrs. Alex. Gourley of Eganville. The body was sent by train to Almonte for burial at Bennie's Crs.
