    Minnie Bell Carry
    Minnie Bell (James) Carry, a resident of the Almonte area since 1929, died Jan 7, 1995 at the Almonte General Hospital following a brief illness. she was in her 90th year. Born July 5, 1905 in Darling Township, Mrs Carry was the daughter of the late Robert James and his late wife Emma James (Hawes). After receiving her education at the White School, she married the late Amos Ballantyne in Almonte. As a widow, she later married George Carry also in Almonte. Mrs Carry is survived by one son Carman Glen James (Isabel) and sister Mrs James (Ada) Lalonde of Cobden. She is predeceased by brothers Lloyd, Ernest, Merville and Stanley, and by sisters, Mrs Nellie Camelon (Alex) and Mrs Edna Lalonde (Pete). The funeral took place at St Paul's Anglican Church Monday, Jan 9 with Rev Rob Davis and Rev George Bickley officiating. Interment will be at Auld Kirk Cemetery in the spring. Pallbearers were grandson Robert James, nephew Ron Lalonde and Ken James, and Robert Renwick, Tim Illingworth and Craig Moore.

    OBITUARY WILBERT HENRY BRYDGES

    A resident of Fairview Manor, Mr. Wilbert Henry Brydges, passed away at the Manor on
    Saturday, May 26, 1979. He was 84.
    Before retirement Mr. Brydges farmed in Ramsay Township. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, and was a veteran of the First World War.
    Born in Ramsay Township on January 1, 1895, he was a son of the late Samuel Brydges and his wife, Margaret Young. He received his education at S. S. No. 12, Ramsay.
    He was married at Almonte on November 12, 1924 to the former Myrtle Thompson, who
    predeceased him in 1945.
    Mr. Brydges is survived by six sons, Keith, Kenneth, Robert, Cecil, Gordon and Ivan, all of
    Almonte, and six daughters, Katherine (Mrs. Francis Gardiner), Galetta; Idabel (Mrs Carman
    James), Almonte; Mary (Mrs. Armer Howie), Carp; Marion (Mrs. Graham Armstrong), Carp;
    Edith (Mrs. John Campbell), Fitzroy Harbour; and Grace (Mrs. Sterling Howie), Stittsville;
    (three sets of twins).
    Also surviving are a brother Howard of Almonte, and three sisters, Ruby (Mrs. Gilbert Grainger), Arnprior; Myrtle (Mrs. William Drynan), Clayton, and Roda (Mrs Clifford Dtynan),
    Amonte. A brother, John, is predeceased.
    The funeral was held from the Kerry Funeral Home, Elgin Street, to St. Paul's Anglican
    Church for service on Monday, May 28, at 2 p.m. Rev. Harry Brown officating. Burial was at
    St. Paul's Cemetery.

    Almonte, June 7, 1945
    The death occurred here on June 1 of Mrs. Wilbert Brydges, formerly Myrtle Mae Thompson, daughter of William E. Thompson and the late Mrs. Thompson, who was born in Ottawa 41 years ago. At the age of five years she moved with her parents to Ramsay where she has since resided. Twenty-one years ago she was married to Wilbert Brydges of Ramsay.
    Besides her husband she leaves 12 children, Katherine, Kenneth and Keith, Isabel, Robert, Mary, Cecil, Marian, Gordon, Edith and Ivan, and an infant daughter, Grace. She is also survived by her father, William Thompson, and a brother, Roy.
    The funeral was held on Monday from her late home, 12th line of Ramsay, to St. Paul's Anglican church. Rev. R. S. V. Crossley conducted the service. Burial was in St. Paul's cemetery.

    An interesting wedding took place at the Baptist parsonage on Wednesday of last week when Miss Myrtle Thompson, daughter of Mr. William Thompson was married to Mr. Wilbert
    Brydges, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brydges. Rev. Victor Collins officiated.

    Owing to a recent bereavement in the bride's family, the marriage cermony was very quietly observed. The young couple are both very well known, however, and the wedding
    gifts were very numerous.

    After the ceremony there was a family gathering at the home of the bride. Mr. and Mrs.
    Brydges will reside at the groom's house on the 12th. line of Ramsay. Mrs Brydges was
    beautifully gowned in blue canton crepe. The bride and groom were the recipients of
    many congratulations in which the Gazette joins heartily.

    W. E. Thompson Widely Mourned ALMONTE 'Special! The death occurred at the Rosamond Memorial Hospital, Almonte, of one of Ramsay's older residents In the person of VVilliam Ernest S. Thompson. The late Mr. Thompson was born on the 12th line of Ramsay 80 years ago. He was the third oldest son of the late Languer: Thompson and his wife, Elizabeth Smith, pioneer residents of Ramsay. In 1901 he married the late Katie Sims who predeceased him In 1924. Mr. Thompson farmed on the 12th line for the greater part of his life, having moved with his son, Roy, and family eight , years ago to the Grace Homestead on the 11th line of Ramsay, where he has since resided.
    Following his retirement from farming, he delivered the mail on RR 4, Almonte for seven years. He was amongst the last of the horse and buggy mailmen In this district. He is survived by a son, Roy L. Thompson. A daughter, Myrtle (Mrs. Wilbert Brydges) predceased him eight years ago. Of his immediate family, five brothers and a sister also survive, Delbert of Detroit, Richard of Coldwater, Mich; Chester of Port Rowan, Ont.; Ivan and Stanley of Fort William and Mrs. Jessie Brown of Detroit. The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home to the I Auld Kirk Cemetery. Rev. Arthur Hirtle of Almonte Baptist Church conducted the service. The pallbearers were George A. Thompson and five of his grandsons, Keith, Kenneth, Robert, Cecil and Gordon Brydges.

    Mrs William Thompson
    The unexpected death of Mrs Wm Thompson in Ramsay of Tuesday of last week caused sorrow throughout the community. The late Mrs Thompson whose maiden name was Katherine E. Sims, daughter of the late John Sims and of Mrs Sims, was born on the fourth line of Fitzroy on March 22, 1874. There she resided till her marriage to Wm Thompson in June 1901. For a time the young couple resided in Ottawa and later at Depot Harbour. Fifteen years ago they came to reside on the homestead in Ramsay. Deceased is survived by her husband, two children ? Myrtle, who has been teaching near Pakenham and Roy who is attending High School in Almonte, her mother and five brothers ? Peter T., Lester and George of Strasbourg, Sask, Hamlet and Alfred, of Smiley, Sask. The funeral which was largely attended was held on Friday from her late residence to the eighth line Presbyterian cemetery. The services at the house and graveside were conducted by the Rev V. Collins, pastor of the Almonte Baptist Church. The pallbearers were Messrs Samuel and Charles Brydges, Joseph Symington, sr., Robert Templeton, Adam Craig and F.A. Ross. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, including Broken Circle from mother, husband and family; wreaths from brothers, Peter and George Sims; wreaths from the Thompson and Sinclair families, Detroit, Mich; wreath from Alpha Lodge, I.O.O.F., Almonte; Spray from Mrs Darling; flowers from Mrs Chester Thompson, Mrs T.A. Thompson, Mrs M.F. Smith and Master Wm Paterson. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Peter T. and George Sims of Stasbourg, Sask; Mrs Chester Thompson, Port Rowan; Mr and Mrs C.J. Lyons, Arnprior; Mrs W.A. Willis, Arnprior; Mr and Mrs F.A. Ross, Kinburn.
